I Cook, Belgrave. The special service
was, in Knox United urch. Rev.
John G. Roberts, assiste. in respon-
sive reading and prayer by Rev.
Peter Tucker of Wales, conducted
the service.
The sanctuary.was tastefully.d.w.-
orated With colorful pottedplants
and arrangements:The large choir
of mixed voices sang "This Child
We Dedicate to Thee", with organ-
ist Mrs. George Procter accompany-
ing. M. Roberts commenced the
service by introducing to the large ,
congregation, Mr ticker, who will
succeed Mr. Roberts on his retire-
ment later this season. Mr. Tucker
replied briefly.
Scripture passages from. Acts,
chapter 12, and St. John's. Gospel,
chapter seven, were read. The event
described in the latter happened at
the Feast of the Tabernacles when a
golden pitcher filled with fresh
spring water was carried in p pro-
cession around the tabernacle by
singing pedestrians. Finally, the
water was poured on the ground.
The story illustrated need and the
satisfaction of need.
Mr. Roberts dwelt on two mes-
sages from scripture: the invaluable
instruction, challenge, inspiration
and sustenance found in God's
Word and the importance•of it in
the rives of these young_ children
brought for baptism; and the con-
stant presence of the Holy Spirit
which "keeps us from wrong".
The parents, with their babies to
be baptized, occupied the front
pews for the sacrament. Hyxnns
relating to the service were sung
and offertory plates were passed by
Douglas Casemore, Mark Coultes,
Ross Higgins and John R. Taylor.
