Marks, Brussels, were supper
guests with Mrs. Cliff Marks on
Saturday evening. Stanley Marks,
Brussels, also visited at the same
home on Sunday.
Visitors during the afternoon on
Mother's Day with Mr. and Mrs.
Oliver Riley were Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Wintemute; Mr. and Mrs. Ron Riley
and family, Wingham; Mr. and Mrs.
Ron Gilbert and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Dennis Henderson, all of Harm
riston.
Mrs. Allan Griffith accompanied
Mrs. Isabelle Scott of Gorrie to Lon-
don on Sunday when they left Mrs.
Mary Hedley of Harriston at St.
Joseph's Hospital for surgery on
Monday.
The family of Mr. and Mrs. Art
Gibson were visitors during Moth-
er's Day weekend.

Mro and Mrs. Ted Smith had their
family home during Mother's Day
weekend: Mr. and Mr John Sinna�
mon, Seaforth; Mrs. Bernell Smith,
Listowel; Mrs. Connie. Willoughby,
Wroxeter.
Mrs. Allan Griffith, accompanied
by Mrs. Cliff Marks and Mrs.
Shirley Leek, were in London on
Wednesday. The former called on
Mrs. Mary Hedley in St. Joseph's.
Hospital.
Residents welcome Rick and
Lynda Brown and family to the
community. They have purchased
the Chris Sturgeon property and
moved in last weekend. Also, the
village welcomes Mr. and Mrs.
Clare Eley who have moved into
their newly -erected home on Gib-
son Street.
The community was sorry to
hear of the passing of Ross Taman
on Tuesday morning in Wingham
and District Hospital, Although
retired for several years, he had
operated a bake shop here for a
number. of years.
Mre and Mrs. Rick Rivest and
family have sold their farm south of
Wroxeter and left last Saturday for
their new home in Alberta. Friends
wish them all the best.
Wheelchair clinic
slated for June 2
The Ontario March of Dimes,
Doncaster Medical of London and
the Wingham and Area Day Centre
for the Homebound are sponsoring
a free wheelchair clinic next Friday
June 2, at the Wingham Armouries.
Minor repairs and maintenance
will be free -to individuals and Don-
caster Medical is supplying free
labor
The Wingham Lyons Club has
donated money to recover the cost
of repairs, The. Ladies' Auxiliary to
Branch 180 of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Wingham, is donating
lunch for the workers and volun-
teers.
The Wingham. Boy Scouts also
will be on hand to give a shine to
the wheelchairs as the repairs are
finished. All donations are greatly
appreciated. It is this kind of com-
munity support that makes clinics
like this possible.

prevent the premature replacement
of wheelchairs by providing the
opportunity forregular mainte-
nance. Wheelchairs need regular
check-ups similar to cars or bicycles
to keep them in good working
order.
Displays of specialized equip-
ment will be available for anyone
interested. If there is special equip-
ment that you would like to take a
look at, please give us a call and we
can arrange to have the equipment
available.

Prize winners
at Belgrave
BELGRAVE--Thirteen tables
were in play at the weekly euchre
in the WI Hall on May 17. High
prizes were claimed by Mrs.
Margery Ritchie and George John-
ston; second high, Mrs, Mel Jacklin
and Herb Clayton.
Not to be outdone by her hus-
band, Mrs. George Johnston also
took home a prize, that one for low
score. Low man was Mrs. Mabel
Wheeler, playing as a man. Lucky
table prizes went to Mrs. Ross Tay-
lor and Jim Smith.
Wednesday, May 24, will start
with a potluck supper at 6:30, fol-
lowed by euchre at 8 p.m. Everyone
is welcome.

The convener of the Cancer Soci-
ety drive for Fordwich and area,
Mrs. Ted Klaassen, reports that
$1,486 was collected. She thanks all

canvassers who helped her.
The Tralee Women's Institute met
Wednesday night, May 17, at the
home of Mrs. Winnie Crapper,
Guest speaker was Mrs. Robert
Vanderheyden who spoke on foot
care.

Congratulations to Kira Stuckey,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan
Stuckey of Wingham, who won a
$100 scholarship for her vocal
singing. The award was presented
by the Walkerton Lions Club at the
Walkerton Rotary Music Festival. A
$50 scholarship went to Carey
King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne King of Gorrie. It was pre-
sented by Bell Canada, also for
vocal singing. Both girls are pupils
of Marg Livermore of Fordwich.

at May Goforth meeting

Mrs. Nancy Campbell welcomed
members and friends of the Goforth
Evening Auxiliary at the May meet-
ing. She set the theme for the meet-
ing with call to worship entitled
"Praise".
Lorraine Clugston and Audrey
McKague introduced a new praise
song to the group, "Singing Hal-
lelujah". Members then wrote a
prayer based on Psalm 89 express-
ing
praise to God for who He is —
the faithful, loving, righteous and
powerful Creator.
Isobel Arbuckle introduced
Emily Phibbs, the guest speaker.
She told of the spiritual influence
her husband's family' had in lead-
ing her to become a Christian.
She related interesting anecdotes
of several relatives who were mis-
sionaries, revealing both the serious
and "humorous side of their work.
She was thanked by Audrey McK-
ague.

demonstrated making a beautiful
grapevine centrepiece. She was

Cross donated
to Knox church
BLUEVALE—An illuminated
cross, donated by a former Bluevale
family, was dedicated at the Sun-
day morning service at Knox Pres-
byterian Church.
The cress is donated in memory
of Robert J. McMurray and to the
glory of God. Mr. McMurray and
his family resided in the Bluevale
area for many years and attended
Knox Church.
Ellen McMurray of Lambeth, Mr.
McMurray's widow; their three
sons, Robert, Donald and Gordon,
as well as grandchild, attended
the Sunday morning service and
the gm of fellowship after the ser-
iike.
