Several ladies from surrounding churches were guests at this Thankoffering meet- ing at the church. Mrs. Daunt showed slides of her trip to the Philippines. She was cho- sen, along with five other Canadian women from the Anglican Church, to observe conditions in a war-torn country. It was, called the Rosa Pm - gram and was under the leadership of Dr. Rosa Cisneros. The delegates flew from Vancou- ver to Hong Kong, then to Manila and from there to Mindanao. There is much poverty and strife among the regions but the people are happy and eager to share. Philip- pine women travelled many miles over very poor roads and in rickety buses to meet the delegates. Children attend school in uni- _srand must stay all week. The •larikuage in the country is mainly English and the staple food is rice. Corn and vegetables are grown and some livestock is raised for food purposes. There are many beautiful churches. Many are small with just a roof, board siding and slats for windows. As the ladies listened, they real- ized that. Canadians are very fortu- nate to have nice homes, good roads and transportation; good water and a safe country in which to live. Mrs. Lynn Bunker thanked Jocelyn and presented her with a gift. The meeting opened with a hymn and devotions prepared by Mrs. Joan Rowley and conducted by Jean Sothern. President Mrs. Sothern welcomed everyone.
