Miss Sanderson's Grade 2 wa
very busy making Mother's Day
poems all about "How special our
moms are". ;We also are making
pretty paper flowers. We are learn-
ing about mammals.
At our nature table, we are look-
ing at "Kent Pilings' bird nest,
Steven Topham's ant farm and Miss
Sanderson's pussy willows.

Miss Baker brought in a dish full
of eggs and the class tried to guess
what they were. They were toad
eggs! We also have frog legs which
hatched.
Last week was animal week in
our room. As part of our study unit,
the students brought in gold fish, a
cat and kittens, a rabbit and an
Alpine goat.
We also are studying plants. All
of us are growing our own seeds
and looking after tomatoes and
marigolds as well.
In math we have started division.
Last Saturday, the Cubs in ouII
class went fishing and Leonard
Feldskov caught a 21 -inch fish.

Miss Bennett's and Mrs. Hutchi-
son's Grade 3-4 class is finishing a
unit called "Food for Thought" and
we have special centres. We are
reading James Henry Trotter and
The Giant Peach in story time. We
are getting ready to go to Camp
Wyoka. It will be fun.
Every Friday we have an egg
drop.

s Mr. Doubleday's Grade 7 and 8
class has been very busy in the past
week. The Grade 8s participated in
a bordenball tournament at East
Wawanosh School last Wednesday.
In gym, they ran the endurance
run four to six times for he Canada.
Fitness program.
In English, they started a unit on
individualized reading. After a
book is read, they are to answer
some follow-up questions about the
book. The idea is to read as many as
possible.
In art, calligraphy has been'
learned and the class will soon be
doing scale drawings using geo-
metric design's. Electives began last
week with Mr. Doubleday teaching
some students how to golf.

Mr. Raynard's class is getting lots
of homework. They are working on
math every day and soon will be
having a test. After the test, they
will be starting geometry.
In English the students ..have
written a lot of stories. They are
working on their ninth list in
spelling and are learning songs to
sing at their banquet.
In history, they are starting cen-
tres on opening up the West. They
received their geography tests back
from the climate unit and are work-
ing on a unit about deserts.

has started a new unit on rabbits
and so far they are enjoying it. The
unit is teaching them ' how to take
care of a rabbit asa, pet.
In 'math, the Grade 2 class is
starting fractions. They also have
been getting ready for track and:
field.
Our class really enjoyed the, inte-
grated color unit just completed.

Mr. Sakasov's class has been
_ playing baseball in gym class. They
recently had a French test and on
Friday they are having a science
test. They arae malting Mother's.D:ay

Mrs. Train's class did a play on
"first aid". Many parents and
friends attended. The class went to
the high` school and potted plants
for Mother's Day We are working
on "Education Week" activities and
anxiously awaiting industrial arts
classes.

tening to the author who visited
our library. His name was Frank
Etherington and many pupils
bought autographed copies of his
