Ironrnaidens ove
Mildmay �pponents.
The newly -formed Wingham
Ironmaidens ladies' team recently
got its season underway in the
South Grey -Bruce Ladies' Softball
League. Included in the league are
teams from Tiverton, Cargill, Elm-
wood, Walkerton, Belmore and two
representing Mildmay. '
Wingham's .first game of the sea-
son was last Thursday night in
Mildmay with the Ironmaidens
thrashing their hosts 32-10.
Mildmay was scheduled to pay a
return visit Sunday evening, but
the game was cancelled due to
inclement weather.
Team members include Julie
Leedham, Sherry Bourne, Michele
Cameron, Heather Shiell, Joanne
Taylor, Kelly Hollenbeck, Lori
Gavreluk, Lynne Bridge, Jane Vath,
Tina Duncanson, Carol Crawford,
Amy Pollard and Nancy Bieman.
The team is coached by'
urne and Neil Oieman and -
aged by Cindy Wan. The team-
members are thankful to Western
Foundry for sponsoring new uni-
forms.
The girls will be holding a car
wash on Saturday, June 3, at the
Zehrs parking lot.

7 p.m.;
Sunday, June 18, Walkerton, 7
p.m.;
Sunday, June 25, Cargill, 7 p.m.;
Friday, July 7, Tiverton, 8:30 p.m.;
Sunday, July 9, Mildmay, 7 p.m.;
Sunday, July 23, Elmwood, 7 p.m.
The rained -out match against
Mildmay must be re -scheduled as
well. Hope to see you at the ball-
park to cheer on the. Ironmaidens.

Bevin Flett earns place
on Ontario softball team
Bevin Flett of Teeswater has
earned a position on the all-star
softball team which will represent
Ontario at' the Canada Summer
Games to be held in Saskatoon this
summer.
Bob Abbott, manager of Team
Ontario, recently contacted Mr.
Flett with the good news.
This past weekend, Al Harrison
of Wingham, third vice president of
the OASA, travelled with Flett to
the Team Ontario camp at the Brock
University campus at St.
Catharines.
Last year Flett attended the camp
and had been invited back with 21
other boys to try out for the 15 posi-
tions.
Mr. Harrison. reports that the
competition for the positions was
hotly contested by boys fro all
across the province. He adds that
Flett had an excellent weekend.
Over the next three months; -the
team will tour the province, playing
in tournaments and exhibition
matches before leaving for Saska-
toon to play in the Canada Summer-,
Games.
Flett .is a member of the Wing -
ham Junior BPs, who will be play-
ing in the Bluewater Fastball
League this season. In the past
three years, the team has won two
provincial championships and was
a finalist once.

these young men' play as they pre-
pare for the Ontario' thanipionships '
