Madill athletes were to fine -form
at the Human -Perth championships
in Goderich last week, proving
themselves once again as a power
in track and field.
For the third consecutive year,
Madill defeated 11 other high
schools in the district to win the
overall Huron -Perth champin�p.
The Junior and Senior .boyss'also_
won individual team titles and the
boys won the overall point total.

The Madill pole vaulters, under
Coach Bob Campbell, once again
made a clean sweep of the pole
vault pit with Mike MacKay and
Rob A,nderson_p�lacing .first and sec-
ond in the Midget; Jamie Johnston
winning the junior and Bevin Flett
and Cardy winning first and sec-
ond as Seniors.
For the individual champi-
onships, Paul Sakasov won the
Midget boys' title, Harkness was
runner-up m the Midget girls' and
Bailie was'runner-up in the Senior
boys.
Wednesday and Thursday of this
week, the top three finishers in each
even go on to the WOSSA meet
held at the University of Western
Ontario at London.. A total of 48
Madill athletes qualified to con pete
WOSSA, the largest contingent in
he school's history.

Last Saturday, May 6, the Wing -
ham Optimist Club held its eighth
annual bicycle rodeo in the Lock-
ridge Memorial Arena. Approxi-
mately 80 youngsters took part.
This year's winners are: junior
division, Lisa Inwood, 96 points;
Phillip Deans, second and Jamie
Good, third.
In the senior division, Danny
