PERFECT Art'ENDANCE awards were presented at the recent Wingham Youth Bowling Coun-
cil awards banquet to: back, Mandy Anger, Charlotte Matz, Jason Schiestel, Becky Hickey, Ken
Hogg, Matthew Merkley, D. J. Morrison; front, Alysha Metcalfe, Sarah Gedcke, Tyler Anger and
Evie Matz.
Mrs. Nicholson's Kindergarten
classes have made little trees with
birds nests in them. This week they
will put popcorn blossoms on their
little trees. Many colorful flowers o
different kinds are appearing in the
classroom. Last Wednesday, they
cleaned up the playground.

Mrs. Kerr's class is very bu3y at
work this week. They made some
very interesting art this week. They
made a form of art with popcorn
hatching out of an egg. They are
guesstimating" with marshmal-
lows this week.
They also are planting some bean
seeds. Some are 30 or more cen-
timetres long and they werejust
planted Friday.

Mrs. MacRae's class is glad that
spring is here. They are going to be
reading about Curious George and
all his adventures. They also are
working hard with Mrs. King's
Grade 6 on their operetta called
"Once Upon a Time" for the assem-
bly on May 15.
Trevor Hodgins, Kimberley
Schedler and Mary Vaudry are on
the top of their math climb game.

Miss Turner's class . is completing
its space unit. They are very good
at memorizing the solar system. In
math, the Grade 2s are starting to
do areas of an object. In the music
festival, Miss Turner's class did
very well, placing third.

Mrs. Overholt's class has been
busy roller and thumb print paint-
ing. They are looking forward to
the color unit and last week they
helped with picking up garbage.
Jennifer Hewines was the top
bowler last week. Crystal is away
for two weeks at London.

Grade .7 and 8s in a clean-up of the
park in Wingham.
Cleaning the Environment
Last Wednesday, May 3, as part
f of our special events, the school
took part,in a clean -tip day. The
Kindergarten to Grade 6 cleanec up
our school yards. The Grade 7s and
8s cleaned up the Riverside Park.
We have had many nice compli-
ments about the work we have
done to make our town and school
look better.
Last Wednesday morning, we
planted two trees at our school
entrance. Mr. Sakasov helped plant
the trees.

Closing Assembly
Last Thursday, we had two for-
mer principals as our guests. They
spoke about their memories of edu-
cation at Wingham Public School.
Mr. Beattie and Mr. Mann talked
with us in the gym and they also
travelled from classroom to class-
room to tell us more.
Mr. Beattie was principal at
Wingham Public School for 31
years and Mr. Mann was principal
' -e" for 12 years. Mr. Beattie is.
i_ fired, but Mr. Mann is principal at
the Learning Resources Centre at
Clinton.
Also last Thursday, it was "Dress
1969 or 2099 Day". This brought a
close to our 20th anniversary cele-
brations of the Huron County
Board of Education.

SPORTS
The basketball is now over at
Wingham Public School. The Red
Army came out on, top of the Bion-
ics 14-11. A very special thanks
goes to Mr. Lisle for all his help in
basketball this season.
