It was the second annual "Wing the Word" benefit banquet. The purpose of the evening was to raise money for "Wing the Word", a charitable organization which pur- chases vehicles and communication equipment for missionaries. Guests were seated as they u Arrived. The evening began with the entrance of the king (played by Gordon Squires). The bishop (Rev. Douglas Whitelaw) was then invit- ed to say grace over the meal. The king ordered that dinner be served. The widow (Ruth Squires) and her lovely daughters (Lorna and Caroline Humphrey, Brenda White and Lynda Kirby) did as the king commanded. During the meal the court jester, Bill Kirby, entertained the guests with skits and musical numbers, including his rendition of "My Dog Has Fleas". Sir Laugh -a -lot (Mark Dawson) watched the goings-on and kept order, especially where the jester was concerned. Following the meal, the king led the group upstairs to the gallery where the young people and other members of the congregation entertained the visitors with vari- ous musical selections. Pictures of the evening's cast also were sold. In all, the evening of fun raised $300 toward the purchase of vehi- cles for missionaries. 4. CHURCH PRESENTS PLAY—The Wingham Pentecostal Church was transformed into the Tweedsmuir Inn for a play late last month.
