YBC bowlers receive
awards at annual banquet
Wingham's Youth Bowling Coun-
cil held its annual awards banquet
last Monday evening at the Legion
hall.
Awards were presented to many
deserving young candidates and
volunteers were thanked.
In the Bantam division, the sea-
son's champions were the Daisies,
consisting of team members
Matthew Merkley, Alsyha Metcalfe,
Adam McBurney and Jeremy Hef-
fer.
The Mums were the playoff
champs: Tyler Anger, Mike Black-
well, Teresa Skinn, Deanne Blacken

A Wingham father -and -son team
won its division at the recent zone
Youth Bowling Council Family
Twosome held at Owen Sound.
Shane Pegg and his father Bob
won the Junior boys' division Sun-
day. A total of 10 Southwestern
Ontario centres were represented.
They will represent the zone this
August in Toronto at the provincial
championships. As well as the
bowling competition, they also will
be provided with accommodation,
a banquet and tickets to a Blue Jays
baseball game.

Bantam Junior season's cham-
pions were the Peaches, Chris
Greig, Jeremy Hickey, Karrin
Marks, Evie Matz, Rowan Kerr and
Tatum Mathers, while the playoff
champs were the Grapes: D. J. Mor-
rison, Murray Steffen, Andy Shaw,
Craig Fair, John Clugston and Steve
Mowbray.
The Devils were the Junior sea-
son champions, consisting of team
members Josh Johnston, Jim Hills,
Danny McPherson, Joel Pegg. The
Gutterballs, Jenny Remington,
Shane Pegg, Dana Mathers and
Shawn Fair, were the playoff
champs.

Games of 50 points were played
last Thursday evening at the week-
ly horseshoe session at the Wing-'
ham Sportsmen's Club.
Ivan Gardner and Jim Wickens
were first with four wins, while
Harold Carter and Jim Rivett were
second, three wins and a plus of 40.
In third place were Syd Lawson
and Jerry Freiburger with two wins
and , a plus of 79.

THE PEACHES were the Bantam -Junior season champions in
the Wingham Youth Bowling Council this year. Team members
include: back, Karrin Marks, Evie Matz; front, Jeremy Hickey,
Tatum Mathers.
THE MUMS were the Bantam playoff champions for the Wingham
Youth Bowling Council this year. Team members are: back, Deanne
Blackwell, Teresa Skinn, Tyler Anger; front, Michael Blackwell,
Robbie McGee.
