A businessman on Wingham's
main street for about, 50"years,
David Alexander Murray, passed
,away Thursday, April 29, at Ritz
'Lutheran Villa, Mitchell, at the -age
of 81 years.
A native of Morris Township,
Dave was born May 7, 19r�07, He
Wass raisedon a farf[13 near Walton,
the son of the late Alexander Mur,
ray and Catherine McClay. He
worked for several years as a farm-
hand before deciding to start his
own welding business. On Jan. 2,
1936, he bought the machine shop
at the south end of Josephine Street
and throughout the years, he was a
familiar sight on the main street as repaired lawn mowers, farm
equipment and cars and sold and
repaired bicycles. He also taught
welding to night classes at the high
school.
Dave was predeceased by -his
first wife, Lenore Taylor, in 1962.

Also surviving are one brother,
Cordon of S aforth and Om sig
tees, Norma Larmour of London,
Dorothy Knott of Clinton. and Mar-
garet Haase of Sault Ste. Marie. He
was predeceased by brothers,
Charles, William, Kenneth and
Donald and a sister, Grace Kirkby.
Mr Murray was a member of St.
Andrew's Presbyterian Church and
Wingham Masonic Lodge No. 286.
Funeral service was held Monday
at one o'clock at The McBurney
Funeral Home, Rev. John R. Vaudry
officiating. Interment followed in
Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dan Brickman,
John Varga, Clare, Glenn and Jack
Van Camp and Lynn Hoy. Floral

day at two o'clock at the Watts
Funeral Home, Brussels Chapel, foi
Mrs. Margaret Taylor of Brussels,
Rev. Paul Chambers officiated and
interment followed in Brussels
Cemetery The Ladies' Auxiliary to
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 218
held a memorial service in the
funeral home at nine o'clock Sun-
day evening.
Pallbearers were Bill Aitchison,
Maurice I?ouma, Don Gibson, Peter
Gibson, John Southgate anki Bill
Scott. Carrying flowers were Car-
man Machan, Jack Overholt and
Ross Somers.
Mrs. Taylor passed away Thurs-
day, April 20, at Wingham and Dis-
trict Hospital. The former Margaret
Gibson, a daughter of the late John
and Cora Gibson, she was born in
Fordwich 64 years ago. She was
predeceased by her husband, Louis
Taylor. She was the loving mother
of Lynne and her husband, Thomas
Cronin, of Brussels; dear sister of
Gerald Gibson of Brussels and Lil-
lian Mitchell of Markham. She was
predeceased by her sister, Aleen
Southgate and herbrother, Harvey

In remembrance, donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society would .be
gratefully acknowledged by the
family as expressions of sympathy.
Mrs. Janet Walker
dies in her 92nd year
A longtimeresident of
Brookhaven Nursing Home, Mrs.
Janet Ann Walker, passed away in
Wingham and District Hospital on
Wednesday, April 19, ,in her 92nd
year.
Mrs. Walker, the former Janet
Wheeler, was born in Grey Town-
ship, a daughter of the late Arthur
and Eva Wheeler. She was prede-
ceased by her husband, Thomas W.
Walker, in 1945 and by one daugh-
ter, Pearl Wright, in 1979.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her
family: Helen and Ross Gray, RR 1,
Bluevale; Emma and Clarence Hen-
ning, RR 1, Wingham; Edna and
Alex MacTavish, RR 4, Wingham;
Joe and Eileen Walker, RR 4, Wing -
ham; Bill Walker of British
Columbia; Lloyd and Helen Walker,
New Hamburg. There are 12 grand -
children; 18 great-grandchildren
and two great -great-grandchildren,
as well as one brother, Henry
Wheeler of Wingham.
Friends paid their respects at The
McBurney Funeral Home until Fri-
day when funeral service was con-
ducted at two o'clock by Lieutenant
Cal Barber of the Wingham Corps
of the Salvation Army, to which
Mrs. Walker belonged, and Lieu-
tenant Al Sweeney. Interment fol-
lowed in Wingham Cemetery.
Mrs. Walker was carried to her
final resting place by six grandsons:
Gordon Wright, Raymond Wright,
Steven Walker, Doug Walker, Daryl
Walker and Kevin Walker. Flower

ALBRECHT Passed away in St.
Thomas -Elgin General Hospital on
Tuesday, April 18, Mrs. Gladys
Albrecht of Aylmer Nursing Home,
Aylmer, formerly of Belmore. She
was 81, born in lylalahide Township
on July 19, 1907, daughter of the
late Jim and Adelaide (Papineau)
Stacey; wife of the late Aaron
Albrecht. She is survived by three
sons, John Ingram of Aylmer,
Clifton Ingram of London, Lewis
Ingram of Sarnia; two daughters,
Mrs. Roger (Doreen) Dandurand of
Ottawa and Mrs. Tom (Sandra)
Brunton, Aylmer. Also 'surviving
are 16 grandchildren and 15 great-
grandchildren. 'Dennis Sullivan of
Aylmer Jehovah's Witnesses offici-
ated at the service at the H. A.
Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer, at
two o'clock on Friday. Interment
followed in Luton Cemetery.

Sixteen tables were in play at last
Monday evening's euchre party at
the Wingham Legion Hall.
Jean Cook was high lady, while
Audrie Vath (playing as a man) was
high man. Muriel Irvine had the
most lone hands.
Low lady was Marj Coultes,
while Carl Johnston was low man.
A few draw prizes were awarded to
Marg McVittie, Olive McKay, Mor-
ley Bushell, Irene Farrier and Elda
Coultes. The Legion will host a
shoot party on May 1.
