The Grade 4 class has been work-
ing on a unit about sandwiches. We
tasted different kinds of breads and
had a sandwich contest.
All we had to do was make a
sandwich that would go in one of
the categories.
The winners were: Wake-up
Sandwich, first, Carla Cook, sec-
ond,'Heather Keller, third, Michelle
Freiburger and Brad Ramsey;
Anything Goes!, first, Vaughn
Vincent, second, JoAnn Mason,
third, Chanda Casemore and Adam
Trotter and fourth, Tracy Robinson;
Big Four Plus Iron, first, Victor
Buchanan and Shannon Embling,
Rebekahs host
dessert -euchre
There were 13 tables in play at
the recent Rebekah dessert -euchre
party.
Winners were: high pink card,
Eva Carr; high white, Edythe
Coultes; low pink, Irene Farrier and
low white, Herb Clayton. Marj
Coultes had the most lone hands
and Jean Wilton won the lucky
draw.
Three are tied
for most shoots
Nineteen tables were in play at
last Monday evening's shoot party
at the Wingham Legion Hall.
Kay McCormick was the high
lady, while Ken Stevens was high
man. Marg Pollock was the eventu-
al winner of the most shoots,
although she' was tied with Helen
Martin and Mary Hehn.
Agnes Gaunt was the low lady
and Cliff Bray was low man, tying
with Cord Louttit.
A few draw prizes were awarded
to Don Courtney, Steve Trapp, Sara
Anstett, Olive Jamieson and Priscil-
la Bray.
The Legion will host a euchre
party on Monday, April 17.

Grade 1 has been working hard
at its addition and subtraction facts
sin
to 10. Their buddies have been a big
help. They have been reading lots
of books. Some children have read
30 to 40 books! Superb!
The Grade 7-8 students have
started their games unit again with
their Grade 2 buddies. The second
"Quest Skills for Adolescent Par-
ents" meeting was held last Mon-
day. Our class is almost finished
with the Quest program for the
year.

Mrs. MacRae's class is studying
about nutrition and having lots of
fun drawing food people.
They are beginning to take turns
reading stories to the Kinder-
garten students. They also are
singing the song "Going to the
Market" for the music festival at
Walkerton.
In their take-home reading club,
some girls and boys have read
over 80 books. What eager readers
they are!

The Kindergarten clan has start-
ed spring -time activities. Last
week, they visited the Maple Keys
Sugar Bush. The children also
enjoyed tapping the maple tree at
the school.
The morning Kindergarten is
preparing for its part in the spring
concert on April 19.

Miss Turner's Grade 2 class is
embarking on a new unit on
space. They will study the solar
system. They are in centres and
will revolve until everyone reach-
es every centre.
In math, they are doing number
facts of 17, also shapes. They are
now doing units of transportation,

resistance there is on these objects.
They are getting ready for the
spring concert that is on April 19
at 7:30 p.m., so mark it on your
calendar.

Grade 3 has had almost perfect
attendance. They have been trying
very hard to improve their math
and reading skills and now are
'proud of their progress. All of the
students are trying to help the stu-
dents who have difficulty.
They enjoy social studies and
science. Some of the students can
research their projects more suc-
cessfully now as their reading
skills improve. They are looking
forward to the time when they can
invite parents in during May.

The Grade 4-5s are starting:,pro-
jects on minerals and mining. The
spring concert will have one song
and two poems.
In social studies, they are doing
forestry and recently got reading
buddies. They also are studying
"the house" in French.
The Grade 4-5s recently finished
their bird project as well. There is
a lady coming to talk about 'The
Changing Me". Grade 4s are doing
problems in math while the Grade
5s are finding the missing term.

Last Friday, Mrs. Overholt's
class had an Easter dinner with
Mrs. Train's class. They ate ham,
potatoes, corn and rolls.
Mrs. Train's class made trifles
for dessert. Nine students from the
Seaforth High School came to help
with their swimming. Heather
Priestap comes Tuesday after-
noons and goes swimming with
them.

In''French this week, the Grade
5s finished the pictures of the
house to learn the names of all the
contents and names of the rooms.
Mr. Sakasov's grade finished its
clothing unit to learn the colors
and names of clothes. Grade 6 is
making an oral presentation to the
French co-op student, Luanne
Brown. Mr. Morton's class is
preparing skits and Mr. Shaw's
class has just finished a review
and unit test.

Last week we had a dress -up
vacation day. Students and staff
dressed up in clothes suited for
wherever they'd like to go. They
dressed up for Japan, Hawaii and
Florida.
