for these early contests.
A much improved Palmerston
team gave Howick a real scare.
Goaltenders Feldskov of Howick
and Phil Nethercott of Palmerston
kept their respective teams in the
game by making many good saves
especially on power play situations.
The first two periods were scoreless
due to their fine performances.
All goals weirs scored in the last
five -minutes of the game. It took a
pin -point pass by Chris Reichard to
Philip Livermore at centre ice to
break the deadlock. Livermore split
the defense and beat Nethercott
low to the glove side to give How -
ick the 1-0 lead.
Weber also drew an assist. Two
minutes later Livermore took a pass
from Weber and snapped a high
shot from the slot past Nethercott
for his second goal. Thirty-four sec-
onds later Sheldon Dinsmore, on a
fine individual move, scored a
wrap around goal from behind the
Palmerston net.
This proved to be the insurance
marker Howick needed. Ryan Gal-
laher was given an assist on the
play when he tip the puck to
Dinsmore from the corner. Derck
Cherry ruined Feldskov's bid for a
shutout when he scored a power
play goal with 1:37 left in the
match. With the win Howick
advanced to the consolation cham-
pionship against London Minor
who defeated Newmarket.

Twenty-four teams entered the
tournament this year. It began with
an eight division round robin for-
mat with three teams in each divi-
sion. Howick, Hanover and Bel-
mont were in one division with the
top two teams advancing to the
"A" round and the last place team
dropping to the consolation side.
In the second and third periods
Hanover's Joel Lahn took over as
he recorded a hat -trick by scoring
one goal in the second period and
two in the third. Jason Stephens
also added a goal for Hanover.
Only the fine work of Christian
Feldskov in the Howick net kept
the score at four. The final result
was a 4-1 decision for Hanover.
Game Two
Belmont 2, Howi k 1
In the secondg a e Howick
squad put forth a great effort but
fell short of Belmont by one goal.
The game was scoreless after one
period. Jamie Faulds scored the
only goal b1 'the Middle- frame to
give Belmont a 1-0 lead.
After only 25 seconds of play in
the third, a power play goal by
Philip Livermore tied the game at
one each. Andrew Weber and Ryan
Gallaher set up the goal. At the four
minute mark Belmont once again
restored the one goal margin as
John Dance hit the twine.
Later in the period Christian
Feldskov tried desperately to keep
Howick in the match when he
stopped a penalty shot by Dan
Black, Belmont's fine captain.
Feldskov was pulled for an extra
attacker in the last minute of play
but Howick could not muster the
equalizer despite a couple of good
opportunities. The 2-1 loss pushed
Howick to the consolation round.
The guys lacked their usual top
notch backchecking and good pass-
ing skills and seemed to play as
individuals, not as a team.
There was no scoring in the first
period. Howick out -scored Chesley
3-1 during the middle session. All
the Howick scoring was done in 56
seconds.
Philip Livermore scored an unas-
sisted goal when he intercepted a
pass while playing short-handed
and beat Mike Patterson cleanly.
Kyle Wheeler's goal was a carbon
copy of Livermore's when he also
intercepted an errant pass to beat
Patterson.

Gallaher also assisted on the play.
London pulled their goaltender
with under a minute to play and
the move paid great dividends
when Chris Mooney scored with 28
seconds left in the game. With the
score tied a five minute overtime
was upcoming. After 52 seconds of
overtime Livermore and Weber put
on a passing clinic with Weber
pulling the trigger to give Howick a
4-3 lead.
This time the Howick defense
pulled together with some strong
checking to ensure the victory and

RON'S ROUNDUP

have played in a tournament this
year. Andrew Weber, the Howick
captain, received a banner on behalf
of the team from tournament chair-
man Peter Howard.
Congratulations to Philip Liver-
more for being named Most Valu-
able Player.
Each member of the Howick
