April meeting of WMS

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse
visited Friday afternoon with his
sister, Mrs. Agnes Walker of Maple
Grove Lodge. They also called on
Mr. and Mrs. Jack S. Walker, all of
Goderich.
Mrs. Laura Johnston of Belgrave,
Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston, Tara
and Erin of Ilderton, returned home
on March 25 following a two-week
vacation in Florida. While there,
they visited Disney World, Epcot
Centre and Kennedy Space Centre.
Knox Presbyterian Church on April
3, with Mrs. Garner Nicholson pre-
siding. Mrs. Nicholson used devo-
tions in Glad Tidings, assisted by
Mrs. Mac Scott, Mrs, Robena
McBurney and Mrs, Ivy Cloakey.
Mrs. Nicholson read a hymn, Mrs.
McBurney read a poem, "Envy"
and Mrs. Nicholson led in prayer.
Mrs. Cloakey read the poem, "East-
er".
The offering was dedicated, the
secretary's report given by Mrs.
McBurney and the treasurer's
report by Mrs. Cloakey. Thirty vis-
its to the sick and shut-in were
recorded. Mrs. Nicholson will go to
Synodical in Woodstock April 18
and 19. The Presbyteri5I meeting
will be held in Ripley May 8. A let-
ter was read from Joy Randall who
is a missionary in Taiwan.
Happy Gang members
enjoy a lively program.
Members of the Wingham Senior
Citizens' Happy Gang enjoyed a
delicious potluck dinner last Friday
before the monthly business meet-
ing.
President Russell McGuire wel-
comed a large turn -out and then
presided over the business after the
singing of "0 Canada".
Following the minutes, treasur-

er's report and roll call, correspon-
dence was read. It was announced
the next dance is April 21 and the
group received an invitation to the
Wingham and Area Day Centre for
the Homebound's 10th anniversary
open house on April 20.
• The Elderobic Moon Walk is slat-
ed for May 26 to June 4. Plans also
are in the works to go to Huron -
view in October to put on a pro-
gram. Earl and Norma Hamilton
are in charge.
Alex Robertson was the lucky
winner of a button -guessing con-
test, Rena McLean won the birth-
day draw and Mr. and Mrs. Herb
Clayfon, the anniversary prize.
Other draw winners included
Agnes Williamson, Elizabeth
Gower, Uldine McKenzie, Cliff
Bray, Jean Aitchison, Bert Garniss
and Marjorie Wall.
Leonard James read a poem enti-
tled "Inspiration". A quartet of
Russell and Jean McGuire, Irene
Bosman and Annie Conn provided
a musical interlude.
A skit by the "Golden Girls", Ena
Ritchie, Irene Bosman, Isobel Gar-
niss and Norma Hamilton was
enjoyed. Carmon and Noreen
Haines provided music and Mrs.
Haines gave a reading entitled "I'm
Awfully Well for the Shape I'm In".
The quartet sang "Life's Railway
to Heaven". Some stories were told
before the meeting ended with the
singing of "God Save the Queen".

A hymn was read and Mrs
Nicholson closed the meeting with
prayer. A book display was viewed
at the home of Mrs. Joe Dunbar fol-
lowing the meeting.
Gladys Omole
addresses April
WMS meeting
Mrs. Gladys Omole of Wingham
addressed the April meeting of the
Women's Missionary Society of St.
Andrew's Presbyterian Church,
Mrs. Omole gave an interesting
talk on her native home, Nigeria.
She was thanked by Mrs. Hazel
Bateman and presented with a gift.
Mrs. Marjorie Wall was in charge
of the meeting and opened it with
the call to worship, the theme of
which was "The Glory of Easter".
The scripture was given in four
parts by Mrs. Jessie Lapp, Mrs.
Jessie McKague, Mrs. Lila Shicklu-
na and Mrs. Wall. The members
gave the response.
Mrs. William Ford presented an
instrumental medley,of Easter
favorites,
The offering was received by
Agnes Williamson and Mrs. Grace
Wright and dedicated by Mrs: Wall.
Mrs. Shirley Donaldson introduced
the guest speaker, Mrs. Omole.
Mrs, Donaldson, president, was
in charge for the business portion of
the meeting. Mrs. Wall, secretary,
gave the roll call and correspon-
dence.
The WMS Purpose was repeated
by all members and the treasurer,
Mrs. Bateman, gave her report.
Mrs. Annie Conn presided at the
piano for the singing of the hymns.
The benediction was given by
Mrs. Wall and a dainty lunch
served by Mrs. Lapp and Mrs..
Sadie Barbour.

Please 'be advised that the Town of Wingham and
Wingham Horitcultural Society have cooperated this
year to plant trees on town streets, to replace those
being removed.
Any ratepayer wishing a tree is asked to notify Town
Clerk's office as soon as possible.

RECYCLING PROGRAM W9
For residents of Wroxeter, Gorrie and Fordwich the pick-up
of recyclables and burnables is Wednesday. For those who
take their recyclables to the landfill site- bins for recyclable
material are stationed at the landfill site.

Whatever comes with a daily news-
paper is acceptable. Please bundle or
place in boxes or bags. No magazines,
catalogues, telephone books etc.
• Household bottJesnd jars, preferably
withouj the lids, must be rinsed or
washed. Labels may be left on. No win-
dow panes, light bulbs, ceramics, por-
celain or china.
Food cans must be rinsed out. Pop
cans are acceptable as is. Please
flatten as much as possible.
Please remove the lids. No other type
of plastic containers (for example, plas-
tic peanut butter jars, vegetable oil bot-
tles, margarine tubs).
