Heywoods celebrate their
45th wedding anniversary
Earl and Martha Heywood of
Wingham celebrated their 45th
wedding anniversary with friends
and family Sunday at the Wingham
Golf and Curling Club.
Besides friends and relatives, a
number of old band members Mr.
Heywood had played with over the
years also were in attendance. Mr.
Heywood and his wife were regu-
lars over CKNX radio and later
television for many years and con-
tinue to enjoy entertaining.
The Heywoods were married in
January of 1944 at Zurich. Mrs.
Heywood was the former Martha
Thiel and the newlyweds lived at
Exeter before moving to Wingham
two years later when Mr. Heywood
came to work at the radio station
and with the popular CKNX Barn
Dance group.
On Sunday, the Heywoods
teamed up with some of their old
friends and bandmates for some
entertainment. Joe Tiffin, Hap Swa-
tridge, Lynn Russwuran, Bill
Mankiss, Ernie King, Cora Robert-
son and Al Cherny all were on
hand to sing a few songs1and live a
few old memories with the anniver-
sary pair.
The highlight of the entertain-
ment was the final act, a complete
surprise to the Heywoods. Their
son and daughter, Grant Heywood
and Patricia Cook, came out
dressed in their parents' uniforms
and presented a segment as Earl
and Martha Junior.
They sang a number of their par-
ents' well-known songs, such as
"Moonlight on the Manitoulin",
several of the Donnelly songs, pre-
sented a Gay Nineties act and told
jokes.
Mr. Heywood's closest friend in
the world of magic, the great Ger-
rard Dietrich, entertained everyone
after a delicious meal. The Hey -
woods thank their friends and fam-
ily for a wonderful anniversary cel-
ebration.

WHY WE
VERIFY
OUR CIRCULATION
When you refuel your car, you probably take a
look at the meter on the gas pump. There you
find proof of the. number of litres you are about to
pay for. We buy most commodities by proven
weights and measures.
When you, the advertiser, are considering a
publication as a vF 'cIe for your message, your
first need is to have proof of the number of
readers the paper will reach. A sworn statement
of circulation is not enough, you want cold facts.
All our papers have "Verified Circulation".
People who buy our papers read them. Just mai-
ling out to all postal drops is no guarantee that
your message will be read. Verified circulation
does guarantee you the number of readers.
We realize that your advertising investment
should have the best possible readership. There-
fore the reason we pay for Verified Circulation.
We appreciate your business, so well do what-
ever possible for you to get the best return on
