Tenebra means shadows and gets its name from the extinguishing of lights, as the Church remembers the shadow of the cross. Five candles symbolized the fol- lowing: white, Christ's light; black, Judas; blue, false accusations; red, Peter and yellow, Pilate. P. E. M. Chambers dedicated a free-stand- ing brass candelabra to the glory of God and in memory of Mrs. Agnes "Scotty" Smith. This memorial was presented to Knox- Presbyterian Church by William Smith in memo- '', of his wife, Mr. Chambers' Easter message was on the subject, "Glory". Spe- cial music, "Love Was When", was provided by the trio, Mrs. James Robinson, Mrs. Alvin Mundell and Mrs. Gordon Moir. Gorrie seniors play card games GORRIE—Last Tuesday, the Come Alive Club and their friends spent a pleasant evening playing euchre and UNO. Prizes were awarded to euchre players Peggy Curry, Peter Brown, Dorothy Elschner and Faith Cooke. Margaret Taylor won the special draw prize and Alvin Mundell was the winner at UNO. The president, Elva Jacques, annouttced that the next meeting will be a potluck dinner on April 11, when the student orators from Howick Central School will deliver their speeches. Gorrie seniors are also invited to Wroxeter on April 5 to travel to China with Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Odette. • week holiday in Tuscon and Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Grainger of Montreal spent the weekend with Mrs. Cecil Grainger. They all were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Grainger of RR 2, Wroxeter, on Easter Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grainger, David and Steven, of Waterloo also attended. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Robinson vis- ited Easter Sunday with Linda Robinson of Fergus. Mrs. Josie Pinder of Mount Forest visited Mrs. Hilda Farrish and Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Farrish last Tues- day. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Voll of RR 1, Gowanstown and Mr. and Mrs. Roland Bennett of RR 1, Corrie, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. William Bennett. Miss Schneider is honored at bridal shower FORDWICH_The Fordwich Ladies' Softball team members were hostesses for a miscellaneous shower on Wednesday night in honor of Miss Laurie Schneider, bride -elect of April. Mrs. Mark Brunarski welcomed everyone. Mrs. Jack Wilson read a poem containing advice to the bride and her groom and a contest was enjoyed. Laurie was assisted in opening her gifts by her mother and grand- mother. She thanked everyone, lunch was served by her friends and everyone enjoyed a social half- e hour.
