Lffigion PeeWees capture
annual Teeswater series
The Wingham Legion PeeWees
captured the Mel Ward Trophy last
week by defeating the Teeswater
PeeWees in two games of their
home -and -home series, 11 goals to
four.
The two -game series is sponsored
by Branch 180 of the Royal Canadi-
an Legion, Wingham. It is an annu-
al affair that sparks an on-going
rivalry between the two towns for
the PeeWee age level.
This year's series was a rough
one, as Wingham collected a total of
69 minutes in penalties with two
players ejected from the second
game. Teeswater was assessed 20
minutes.
However, pizza and pop at the
Legion hall following the second
game calms the savage beast in any
PeeWee!
Wingham goal scorers in the first
game, a 4-1 victory for the Legion
lads, were Brett Sangster, unassist-
ed; Matthew Hunter from Jonathan
Lane and Eric Deyell. Lane scored
from Deyell and Jason Evans before
Ryan Leibold notched Wingham's
fourth goal, from Evans and Lane.
Teeswater's lone marker was
scored late in the third period,
unassisted, by Bill Henry.
