Midgets a 'commanding two game
lead over Lucknow in the best of five
group semtlinil playoff series.
The result was a 5-0 victory in the
•Second game played at Howick on
March 8.
Howick had a great first period of-
fensively and skated off the ice with
a well-deserved 3-0 lead. Only the
outstanding goaltending by Paul
Helm in the Lucknow net kept the
score at 3-0.
Midway through the period How -
ick scored goals only 16 seconds
apart. Jason Carriere knocked in a
rebound at 10:46. Donald Livermore
and Jaret Henhoeffer di(gv-- assists.
Livermore fed „Henhoeffer a perfect
pass only seconds later and Hen-
hoeffer's low blast to the corner beat
Helm cleanly.
Henhoeffer fired his second goal of
the period with 1:47 left as he com-
bined with Donald Livermore and
Carriere on a' neat three-way pass-
ing play.
A power play goal by Craig King
was the only goal of the second peri-
od. It took King two tries to put the
puck by Helm. Todd Templeman
and Jeff MacGregor helped set up
King.
Howick scored the only goal of the
third -period with just 10 seconds left
on the clock. Howick held a than ad-
vantage. Donald Livermore dropped
a pass back to the point and Jeff
MacGregor's hard slapshot found
the top corner. John Greig also as-
sisted on the goal.
On Friday, March 10 in Lucknow,
it took the Howick Midgets a 10 min-
ute overtime period to eliminate the
host team from further play in the

Carriere accumulated one goal and
four assists while Greig chipped in:
with one goal and time assists. The
other two Howick markers came off
the stick of Chris Reichard.
Goaltending duties were shared by
Peter Stewart and Mark Fraser.
Howick held a slim 2-1 lead after
one period on goals by Reichard and
Livermore. Assists went to Greig,
Carriere and Livermore, Russell
Sutton scored for Lucknow.
The teams traded second period
markers. Livermore capped -a per-
fect three -on -one play with Carriere
and Greig for the third goal. Car-
riere scored on'the power play w -hen
he deked the goalie cleanly on a
breakaway.
Jason Jacobson gave Carriere a
perfect lead pass at centre ice. Jus-
tin Murray kept Lucknow in •the
game with back-to-back goals late in
the period.
The third period had many dra-
matic moments for both clubs. Liv-
ermore scored his third and fourth
goals in the last five minutes. Both
goals came on a Howick power play.
The first goal was unassisted on a
wrap around from behind the Luck -
now net.
Livermore was set up by Carriere
and Rod Mann on the second mark-
er.
Howick seemed to have the game
well under control until the last min-
ute of play. Sutton scored with 1:09
left to draw Lucknow to within one
goal.
