The F. E. Madill Mustangs' h
ey season ended on a bitters
note last week at the WOSSA Ho
Tournament. The Mustangs
home the silver medal wi
convincing 7-4 triumph over
Sarnia St. Pats last Wednesday
But a heart -breaking loss to
minster Wildcats of London, as
as the subsequent Westminster
tory over Sarnia; gave the 'W
the WOSSA, gold medal and a
in: the OFSSA Hockey Tourn
at FortFrancis.
'Sarnia lost 6-4 to Westminster
Tuesday.to. set up the silver -m
contest between F: E. and St.
Madill scored early and often
this contest and led 5-0 at o
point.
Unfortunately, the Mustan
coasted the rest of the way as th
hung on for a 7-4 triumph: It
rather an uninspired effort fro
both teams for the most part
London already had captured t
gold.
However, the Mustangs can
proud of their acconnplishatent
they bounced back from a ve
enmotionatioss on Monday to t
what few teams ` can a claim:
.WOSSA sillier medal.
Rod Cayley again led Mai
with two goals and one assist. Tete
. .of John.Greig; Dean Whitfie
' ,and jarret Henhoeffer had Sarni
ruining around in its'own end
most of the day, as Greig and Whit-
field each picked up a goal and
Henhoeffer added two assists.
Defensemen Craig King and
Steve Michie tallied a goal apiece
ock- and Captain Tom McDonald ac-
weet counted for Madill's other score.

sl Cayley and Jeff McKee picked up
behind Westminster .goalie Bob
the assists. for Madill. However,
in that was Gill the scoring the Mus-
ne tangs could muster on this night.
Westminster found its touch early
gs in the second as Ed Krukowski tied
ey the game, also-on•'a power :play,
was Madill came very close to victory
m not once, but twice, as its shots
as rung off the goalpost, but the score
he remained tied for the rest of regula-
tionbe time, forcing . the two teams to
play a 10 -minute overtiMe.
as - Only then could Westminster
ry claim victory as it sired goals' 15

.a Many superlatives could be used
to describe this physical, tough,
emotional and exciting tilt between
two evenly -matched teams, but 1
think only two words are necessary
to tell the story of this game: Mario
Kotsanis.
Kotsanis, the Mustang goal -
tender, was nothing less than bril-
liant On this night. Though West,.
minster kept the action in Madills
end for much of the game and chal-
lenged him with several outstand-
ing shots, time and again Mario
was there to shut the door andkeep.

and probablycouldn't have played
any better. In fact, as the NHL was
idle on Mondaynight, it is possible
that Kotsanis played the best game
in goal in- North America. Think
about that one for. awhile+
Kotsanis and a number of other
Mustang regulars will hopefully re-
turn to high school hockey action
