• SENIORS' DAY.
CENTRE NEWS
By Gloria Workman
We had an extremely fun -filled
week here at the day centre. There
were many activities that took place
last week.
The Tuesday group made pot-
pourri sachets. The Wednesday
group viewed lsides of Ruth
Thompson's trip to the West. The
Thursday group participated in
making chocolates, something that
the seniors would like to do some
more.
A special thank -you goes out to
Barb Rattee for demonstrating the
process involved . in making the
chocolat.
We also had another visitor last
week. Doris Bushell brought in her
award-winning quilt to show
everyone. Thank you, Doris, for
taking the time to show us your
lovely quilt.
Christine Gibson was at a
workshop at Ingersoll last Monday.
The purpose of the workshop was to
discuss issues surrounding isolated
older adults. She came back with
some valuable information.
I recently attended a three-day
conference entitled "Working with
Community Groups". This work-
shop was helpful for me, to help me
evaluate the skills that I use with the
groups I am involved with.
I recommend this type of program
for professionals who work with
groups.
Thanks to the CKNX Tryhards and
the Lucknow "Fearless" Kinsmen
for Providing entertainment last
Saturday night during the fantastic
game of hockey.
All your efforts were appreciated
in this special fundraiser.
This week we will be starting to
explore Ontario by exercising our
way to fitness. Ms. Gibson will
plain the details this week. Our first
city is Kenora and then it is on to
Thunder Bay.
This Wednesday the seniors will
have an opportunity to be creative
bv designing their own sun •,; es,
Everyone also is asked to dress
Jamaican in our effort to beat the
mid -winter blues.
Our next foot clinic is tomorrow,
Wednesday. Please call for an ap-
pointment at 357-1440 or 1445.
A fundraising dance is planned for
Saturday, March 18, in Brussels.
Tickets now are available from any
staff member, board member,
senior or you may come to the
Armouries between 8:30 a.m. and
4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Hope to
see you at the dance.
