The occasion was the birthdays of District president visits Lakelet WI LAKELET — Mrs. Ted Klaassen of Fordwich, who is Huron East Dis- trict president, attended the regular meeting of Lakelet Women's In- stitute on Feb. 2. Hostess- was Mrs. Harold Wallace of Palmerston. The topic, "What type of PRO (Public Relations Officer) are you?", was given by Mrs. Percy Huth and pointed out that all members are public relations of- ficers for their organization, either good or bad, by the impression they give to others. The motto, "Be like a duck; keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil under- neath", was presented by Mrs. Lloyd Jacques. Mrs. Jake Versteeg conducted devotions and Mrs. Klaassen volunteered 'to be the auctioneer for a lively auction of baked items. Ten members and three visitors answered the roll call by naming a good book they had read recently. During °the business, which was concluded by the president, Mrs. Derril Hallman, a letter was read from FWIO president, Mrs. Margaret Munroe. "Women in the Environment" is the theme for 1989 and June is WI Month, Mrs. Lyle Murray reported on the Huron East District executive meeting she at- tended recently, when plans were made for the district annual meeting to be held in Brussels on May 9. Conveners are asked to hand in reports of their meetings to the program coordinator, Mrs. Emerson Ferguson, by the March meeting, to be held at the home of Mrs. Earl Kavelman on Mar. 2 at 2 p.m. This is the resolutions meeting and the topic is recycling. Jamie McPherson of Kitchener visited Saturday afternoon with his grandmother, Mrs. Irving Toner. Genevieve and Robbie Graham of Kitchener spent the weekend with theirgrandparents, Mr. and Mrs, Alex Graham. Mrs, Irving Toner visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McPherson of Teeswater. Mrs. Harold Crump of Kitchener and Terry Simmons of Moorefield visited Sunday with Mrs. Joe Simmons.
