Wingham, Mitchell split •
first two games of playoffs
The Wingham Kinsmen Bantams
have begun their OMHA playoff
series against Mitchell with the
clubs splitting the first two games in
the best.of-three sett.- • •
The third and deciding game is
scheduled few tonight (Tuesday).
Mitchell opened the series with a
6-3 victory at home a week ago Mon-
day. Wingham fell behind 2-0 early,
but battled back to tie the score on
goals by Jason Bloemberg and Rob
MacKay.
However, Mitchell scored a big
goal in the final minute of the second
period and went to the dressing
room leading 3-2.
The momentum from that goal
carried over to the third as Mitchell
came out and fired two quick goals
before the 13 -minute mark.
While the Kin Bantams never quit,
they could not close the gap.
On Saturday •night, the series
resumed in Wingham and the two
evenly -matched teams played an
excellent game with the local boys
corning 4WaY NO a WeJklesPKTec16-
3 overtime win.
Rob MacKay paced the Wingham
attack with two goals including the
winner on a breakaway early in the
extra period.
Jay Marston also notched a pair
while singles went to Scott Neil and
Ryan Deyell.
A strong power play and some
outstanding goaltendinitby Andrew
Gibson proved to be the difference.
The winner of the series will go on
to play Seaforth.
