Last weekend athletes from
Wingham and area competed in the
annual Provincial Royal Canadian
Legion Indoor Track and Field Meet
held at York University in Toronto,
There were some promising
results. Caroline Versteeg of Madill
won a silver medal in the shot put
with a personal best put of 10.55
metres.
Jeff Hollenbeck also did very well
in shot, heaving the 12 -pound
implement 11,46m forfourth place.
For several of the athletes, this
was the first meet of the season.
Many had personal best
performances. Results are as
follows:
Girls 15 years and under—Tracey
Metez, shot put, 7.69m, sixth;
Kendra Machan, shot put, 7.41m;
