PeeWee playoffs begat , for the
Wingham UP* .PeeWees Sunday
evening when the local tads downed
Seaforth 1-0.
For reasons of ice availability, the
game was played in:Hensall.
Rob Johnston earned the shut -out
by stopping 27 shots. The goal posts
came up big for Johnston by
stopping four nr -five. themselves.
The Legion lads managed just' 13
shots, but one of thein went in.
The lone pal of the game was
scored with onesecond remaining in
,the second period. G. T. Welch let a
shot go from the point with the
Seaforth goaliegetting a pad on it.
and then, from the ensuing goal -

Listowel 9, Wingham 4
The Legion PeeWeea squared off
against the Listowel Cyclone Pee-
Wees in the last regular season
game of the year last Tday.
The lads stayed with them for two
periods. However,, four unanswered
goals was the Lads' undoing.
Considering theoverall health of
the Legion players, they did very
well. Many of the boys reported in
feeling sick. The lads were badly
outshot, 30 to 10., Mat. Elsmlie
started hi goal''for?-the team, but
gave way to Johnston at the begin-
ning of the third period.
Shoppers' Atoms come up
empty twice,win Sunday
The Wingham Shoppers' Drug
Mart Atoms went to the well three
times last weekend, corning up
empty twice before capping :it off
with an impressive home -ice victory
on Sunday.
• It all kicked off last Friday at the
arena in Mildmay. The Shoppers
came up flat in this one and never
really got going as they bowed out 5-
1
Wingham's lone tally came off the
stick of Jeremy Hickey with - help
from Chris Alexander and Mat
Adams.
The same two teams faced -off the
following night in Wingham and for
two periods, the Shoppers' home
fans were entertained by the Reagan
Leibold and Curtis Hunter show.
This pair would figure .in all of the
Wingham scoring with Leibold
racking up his second four -goal
performance of the season.
Three of those goals were setup by
Hunter, whose strong team play has
been a big asset for the Shoppers.
Kevin Hogg, the team's best
"grinder", also picked up an assist.
The Shoppers held on to a 4-3 lead
going into the third period, but as the
saying goes, "It's never over until
it's over."
Shoppers' goalie Scott Allen had
played five solid periods against this
Mildmay club, but in the final frame
last Saturday, the flood gates
opened.
By the time the final buzzer
mercifully ended the contest,
Mildmay had skated away with a 10-
4 win. Questioned later- about the
third -period collapse, Allen offered,
"No comment", except to say that
he denies allegations that he had
been bought off by the "Mildmay
Mob".
He also reacted with indignation
when it was suggested he trade his
goal stick fora white cane.
Sunday dawned much brighter for
the Shoppers as they played host to
Goderich.
Hickey put Wingham up 1-0 at
43:56 of the opening period. The
Shoppers went ahead 2-0 a short
time later on a goal by Leibold.
Goderich, which had beaten the
Shoppers in their only other meeting
earlierthis Season, fought back to tie
it in the second.,
But In the third, back-to-back
goals by Alexander.. and a late
insurance marker by Hickey, iced it
for the Shoppers as they dumped
Goderich 5-2.
Much of the credit for Sunday's
win' must go to- the Shoppers'
defense, which was without the
services of several regulars. u

- Welch' was effective offensively,
clearing the defensive zone wellto
his forwards, as well as leading
several up -ice rushes. He spent
much of his time making many of
the Listowel players aware of his
physical presence.
Cameron got Wingham on the
scoreboard first, netting one from
Balzer and_ J, Lane. L sto ►el
rebounded with two quick goals.
Lane evened the score with a
floating wrist shot that handcuffed
the Listowel goalie, assisted by
Balzer. Period one ended with
Listowel on top 3-1.
The second period belonged to the
Cyclones withfour goals, while
Wingham responded with a lone
marker from MacLeod, assisted by
Sangster and Cameron.
The lads came to life in the third
frame, allowing the Cyclones just
two goals. Welch netted the lads'
fourth goal in . a goal -mouth
scramble, assisted by Cameron with
his third point of the night.

Captain Andrew Weber ,led the
Howick Bantams to a 7-5 regular
season win overDraytonlt Thus -
lay evening at the Howick Commu-
nity Centre. Both teams were short-
staffed for the game. Each team had
only eight skaters and a goaltender.
Howick started quickly by scoring
three goals in the first two and a half
minutes of play. Weber scored two of
the goals.
The first goal was the result of a
fine three way passing play with
Sam Doubleday scoring his first goal
of the season. Steve Winkel and
Sheldon Dinsmore received assists.
Weber's two goals were assisted by
Ryan Gallaher and Winkel.
Drayton chipped away for three
successive goals before the period
endedISorb Whale, Chris Allison
and Trvor Franklin scored the
goals.
Howick continued to play well
throughout the second period and
outscored Drayton three goals to
two. Weber added two more goals
with Jason Douglas adding the third
with a hard slapshot from the point
while Howick had a man advantage.
Winkel and Darryl Johnson drew
assists. Weber's two goals were the
result of hard work on his part as the
goals came off the face-off each
time. Brad Culp and Franklin with
his second were the goal scorers for
Drayton.
The only goal of the third period.
was an -insurance marker by Weber,
his fifth of the evening, with help
from teammate Darryl Johnson.
The final result was a hard earned 7-
5 decision for Howick.
BANTAM BANTER
Christian Feldskov returned to his
