Helen's Tigercats still bald the
lead with 69 points and behind them
Marg's Bombers have 66. Next are
Willis' Wimples, 64, Graham's
Crackers, 62, Betty's Bluejays, 49
and Don's Dummies, 47.
Shawn McKague took the men's
high single of 225, while Wayne
Irvine had the high triple of 573.
Jean McKay rolled the ladies' high
single of 224 and Betty Burley had
the high triple of 564.
Other good bowlers were Wayne
Irvine 210; Muriel Irvine 222 and
Betty Burley 204, 205.
BLUEVALE MIXED
Reta Ross had the ladies' high
single of 257 and the high triple of
668, while Kevin Hickey took top
honors the for men with a 244 high
single and a 654 high triple.
Other good games were rolled by
Audrey ,.Johnston 247; Pauline
Dickson 241; Judy Lappage and
Doug Finley 240 and Daryl Walker
232.
WROXETER-GORRIE MIXED
Ron McMichael had the men's
high single of 263 and the high triple.
of 704. Brenda Roth and Lorna
McArthur had the ladies' high single
of 238 and the high triple of 655 was
rolled by Lorna.
Other high games were rolled by
Rusty McKie 232; Gerry Koebel 215;
Jim Seip 220, 203 and Dave
Dinsmore 254.
WED. NIGHT MIXED
Sheri's Sherills lead the league
with 43 points, followed by Debbie's.
Dirty Dancers, 34, Susan's
Supremes, 32, Barb's Beatles and
Arlene's Alabamas, 28 and June's
Tunes, 24.
Chris McGee had the ladies' high
single of 278 and the high triple of
686, while other good games were
rolled by Deb Steffler 261; Arlene
Haasnoot 246; Sheri Horton 240;. Lori
Tiffin 233 and Tammy Cleghorn 248.
BELGRAVE LADIES
Good bowlers last week were
Laura Johnston201; Hilda Vincent
181; Mabel Wheeler 178; Annie Cook
and Doris Michie 175.
SENIOR MEN
High games last week were rolled
by Bill Uuldriks 198; Don
McCormick 175 and Gord Francis
171 and 181.
COMMERCIAL LEAGUE
On Jan, 24, Ed's Earwigs were in
the 'lead with 86 points, but Rod's
Roaches were closing in with 80.
Larry's Lizards have 69, Bruce's
Black Flies, 62 and tied for last spot
are Steve's Slugs and Barry's Beer
Bugs, both at 59.
Betty Stanley had the ladies' high
single and triple of 328 and 777. Rod
Hickey captured top honors for the
men with a 343 single and 780 triple.
Other good games were rolled by
Jane Pfeiffer 241; Mike Darling 259,
220; Gene Kruse 232 and Bob Pegg
228.
Wingham Tyke teams
win three and lose one
The Wingham Tyke teams
completed another successful week
inning three out of four contests.
. ,TheJunior group con two -
game sweep downing Blyth 16-1 and
Clifford 9-1, while the Senior teams
gained a weekend split losing to
Ripley 11-5, but rebounding to defeat
Lucknow in a 7-6 squeaker.
Wingham 16, Blyth 1
The Wingham Tyke Junior squad
consisting of the four and five -year-
olds, continue to roll over all of their
opponents.
In the 16-1 victory over Blyth,
Zack O'Krafka led the way with five
goals and two assists, while Jake
Henderson and Kent McPherson
each contributed three goals and an
assist.
Zane Davies added two goals and
two assists, Jamie Chester notched
two goals and one assist, Garret
Skinn added a single and two assists.
Wingham 9, Clifford 1
Game Two, a 9-1 victory over
Clifford, was much the same as the
Blyth contest as everyone
contributed to the scoring parade.
Zane Davies, Jake Henderson,
Jamie Chester and Zack O'Krafka
each had a pair of goalwhile Kent
McPherson added the single tally.
Ripley 11, Wingham 5
In the only loss of the week, a well
prepared Ripley team caught
Wingham on an off day and went 'on
to defeat the locals 11-5.
Andrew Laing took the opening
faceoff and gave Wingham a very
early 1-0 lead, but Ripley struck
back hard and fast to notch seven
unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead
after one period.
The Wingham players began to
muster a comeback in the second as
they rebounded with four of their
own to narrow the gap tp 7-5.
Greg Machan notched the first
from Jeff Leitch and Justin
McTavish, Then Matthew Merkley
scored from Leitch and McTavish.
Zack O'Krafka narrowed the' gap
to 7-4 from Laing and Chris
Cameron. Laing then scored his
second of the game and at the end of
two periods, the Wingham Tykes
were right back into it.
However, the third period was all
Ripley, scoring four more to cruise
to the 11-5 victory.
The only bright spots in this game
were -the play Of Greg Machan And
goaltender Joel Leitch, who may
have found himself surrounded by
nothing but "Ripley green".
Wingham 7, Lucknow 6
The second squad of Senior Tykes
travelled to Lucknow and came
away with a narrow 7-6 victory in a
game that was a seesaw battle right
from the start.
Wingham took a 1-0 lead on, a goal
by Matthew Merkley from Phil
Adams, but Lucknow scored to knot
the game at one each.
Jonathan Montgomery again gave
Wingham a one -goal lead before the
end of the first period, assisted by
Aaron McBurney.
Wingham took a 3-1 lead early in
the second as Darrin Cole notched
his first of two, from Curtis Ritchie,
but again the Lucknow Tykes
rebounded with a pair of their own
and the score remained tied at 3-3
through two periods.
Phil Adams fired two quick
to open the third period, the first
from Jim Morrison and the second
from Jean-Paul Bekasiak. However,
Lucknow got one back to reduce the
margin to one.
Matthew Merkley then scored his
second from Adam McGuiggan, but
once more Lucknow replied.
Next, Darrin Cole scored his
second and the eventual winner.
Lucknow scored once more before
the game ended, but it wasn't
enough as Wingham had held on to
take the 7-6 victory.
This week, one team travels to
Tiverton for a tournament while the
other squads remain at home for
some head-to-head games.
EARNS BADGE OP MERIT
George Inglis of Befmore was
presented with the Badge of Merit in
February of 1969. This was the
highest' award a Legion mernber
could receive. A veteran of World
War 1, George was a charter
member of Royal Canadian Legion,
Howick Branch 307, which he had
helped organize in 1940.
