The Junior group of four and five- year -olds came away the big win- ners, while the senior teams dropped a pair of games. Wingham 27, Howlett 2 The "farm" team came out flying on Thursday night and dumped their visitors from Howiek 27-2 with every member of the team contrihuttng to the scoring. Jake Henderson led the assault with eight goals and four assists while Zack O'Krafka contributed seven goals, Zane Davies six, Gar- rett Skinn four, and singles went to Jamie Chester and Danny Martin. Peter Dixon and Trevor Hickey also had a hand in the win by con- tributing several assists. Belgrave 5, Wingham On Friday night in 13elgrave, one of the Senior squads was- treated to another fine exhibition of hockey by Belgrave's Peter Irwin. Irwin notched all five goals to lead his team to a 5-1 victory over Wingham. The lone Wingham goal came from the stick of Wesley Stapleton assisted by Justin McTavish. Goderich 15, Wingham 6 On Sunday afternoon, the second Senior squad hosted Goderich, one of the finest Tyke teams in the area, Goderich opened the scoring early, but Wingham tied it on a goal from Jay sLeitch, assisted by Jeff Leitch. 'The Goderich team went ahead 2- 1, but Wingham again kept pace as. Zack O'Krafka notched his first of two from John Skinn. Goderich then netted three ee: more quick goals to close the first period with a 5-2 lead, Matthew Merkley got the locals back into the game early in the second on a goal from Greg Machan, but the team sa • • ed defensively and Goderich exploded for six unans- wered goals to lead 11-3 after two periods. The Wingham Tykes regrouped for the third frame and again played Goderich on even terms although they were outscored 4-3 in the period. Merkley added his second, from Machan and Jay Leitch, and O'Krafka got his second from Andrew Laing. Chris Cameron also scored for Wingham, from O'Krafka and Tyler Anger. New sweaters spur Novice team to win Last Saturday, Goderich came to Wingham to take on the Novice squadand lost 9-0. Wingham played a very good game, offensively and defensively. David Laing opened the scoring in the first period, assisted by Jarret Giirifi ` ati fitti alga' a 'deo'one- of his own to end the frame at 2-0 for Wingham, Steve Mowbray scored in the sec- ond, assisted by Griffith and Jamie Good. Laing then scored for Wingham, assisted by Mitchell Skinn.• Huffman added two goals in the final frame, while teammates Griffith, Machan and Skinn all scored single markers. Assists went to Laing, four and "Skinn and Huffman, one each. Wingham plays Seaforth tonight, Tuesday, at 6 p.m. NOVICE NEWS - The team received new sweaters recently, thanks to the Wingham Optimist Club which has been very generous to the team. Hopefully the new sweaters will keep the winning streak alive as the Novices go into the playoffs in two weeks. Bantam unbeaten streak ends on 2-1 loss to Clinton The Wingham Kinsmen Bantams' four -game unbeaten streak came to an end last Thursday night in Clinton with the locals dropping a tough 2-1 decision. Wingham opened the scoring in the first period on the power play Newsboys play to 5-5 stalemate with Bridges The Advance -Times Newsboys and the Bridge Motors Mustangs played to a 5-5 tie in last week's Wingham Industrial Hockey League action. Advance -Time goal scorers were Terry Walker with a pair and singles went to Bob Remington, Rick Jacklin and Brad Moore. Scoring for Bridges were Brent Foxton with two, while singles were recorded by Jitn Noble,, Stan Stapleton and Terry Armstrong, who scored the equalizer with seven seconds remaining in the game. The Crawford Dodgers trounced Staintons 10-4 as well last week. Marksmen for Crawfords Were Doug Purves with the hat trick, Dave Heinmiller with a pair and singles went to Dave Golley, Bill Brophy, Arnold Spivey, Bill • Glasier and Mair Alton. Bob Johnston replied with all four Stainton goals. when Ryan Deyell lifted a backhand over a sprawling Clinton goalie, Darren Stevenson, Despite numerous scoring oppor- tunities, the Wingham skaters could not build on the lead and it came back to haunt them. Clinton captain Shawn Chipchase tied the game with a beautiful individual effort that started deep in his own zone and culminated in a breakaway goal. Chipchase then added the winner late in the third while Wingham was shorthanded. The Kin Bantams had earlier in the week bombed Zurich 10-2. Ryan Deyell fired the hat -trick and added an assist to lead the scoring parade. Rob Harrison and Rob MacKay each added two while singles went to Jay Marston, Jason Bloemberg and TizCuthe, Wingham's record now stands at seven wins, nine losses and one tie. The Kin .
