The genial hosts, Jack and Laura Jenkins and Ross and Mary Turvey, served delicious refreshments and distributed awards for high scores to Marie Stewart and Aleve MacTavish; low .:to Margaret Mundell and Harvey Edgar and, door prizes. to Nancy Sco tt-and ton Coultes, The next open card party is Feb. 13 and the -regular monthly meeting is Jan. 30. Area residents elected to 1989 JF executive ` Robert Hunking of RR 1, Auburn has been elected president of the Huron County Junior Farmers. Others elected to the executive at a recent meeting of the association in Clinton are: Rob Enders of Wingham, first vice-president; Brenda Steele of Stratford, second vice-president; Karl Morrison of Lucknow, secretary; Jeff Hearn of Clinton, treasurer. Livestock tour for producers is March 6 to 10 The Livestock Management Tour, sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, will be held in the Kemptville-Ottawa area March 6 to10. The tour is an opportunity for 90 young farmers from across Ontario to visit approximately 20 different livestock operations in Renfrew, Lanark, Ottawa Carleton and Gren- ville Counties to observe and discuss various management practices. Delegates also will evaluate livestock at these locations, as well as visit a number of livestock - agricultural businesses. Participants in the tour must: —be at least 18 years of age (suggested age range of delegates is 18to35); —be actively involved or inter- ested in the day-to-day operation of a farm and; —be willing To learn new farm management practices and new methods of evaluating livestock. There is a registration fee and the deadline for registering is Jan. 27 at the Clinton OMAF office. The tour is undoubtedly one of the best op- portunities for young .or future - farmers to experience Ontario's livestock industry. Over 130 of the animals, in- cluding 29 sows and three boars, were lost in the fire. 1 enjoys travelogue of visit to Australia Whitechurch — Mrs. Jean Tiffin _ was convener of the Resolutions meeting of the Women's Institute which was held Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at her home. She introduced the. speaker, Mrs. George Underwood who, with her husband, had visited Australia last year for 35 days. She gave a wonderful armchair tra velogue of the trip and outlined on a map the part of the country they toured. Mrs. Russell McGuire thanked her and presented her with a gift. Mrs. Helen Currie opened the meeting with a poem, the Opening Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. ,Mrs. Agnes Farrier read the minutes from the last meeting. Mrs. McGuire announced that the In- stitute days at the Erland Lee Home will be June 6, 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The FWIC cookbooks are avail- able from Anna Jackson, FWIO office, P.O. Box 1030, Guelph, On- tario N1H 6N1. There must be 2,400 of these books sold before Ontario makes a profit. Mrs. Tiffin gave the motto, "The highest reward of a man's toil isnot what he gets out of it but what he leans by it". He is a new grandson for Hugh and Mary Simpson. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. Carman- Whytock and Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross visited Sunday afternoon with Millan Moore in his new home. They presented him -with a gift from his neighbors on the second of Kinloss.: by Mrs. Ross at the piano. Mrs. Tiffin gave some interesting read- ings, among them "They Say" and "Salute to a Dishrag". She then conducted a contest which was won by Marjorie Wall and Helen Currie. The meeting closed with "God Save The Queen" and Grace was sung. Lunch was served by the lunch committee.
