DONATE TO CHRISTMAS BUREAU — The students at Sacred Heart School in Wingham donated toys
and canned goods this year for Christmas to others who are less fortunate. Lieut. Cal Barber of the Wing -
ham Salvation Army gratefully accepted the donation from Angie Ortlieb, Natalie Chomyn and Melissa

Fire officers are promoted
Several officers of the Wingham
Area Fire Department have been
promoted by the board on the
recommendation of Fire Chief
Harley Gaunt..
Mr. Gaunt made the recommenda-
tions at the December board meet-
ing.
Bill Doig and Glen Reidt of the
Gorrie station have been promoted
to district captain and captain
respectively, while Ron. Mann has
been elevated to junior officer.
At the Wingham station, Mr.
Gaunt recommended that Kevin
Hickey and Dave Bourne also be
promoted to junior officers.
As Mr.. Gaunt _explained, ' the
newly -promoted officers have
passed examinations and will be
given more responsibility at the fire
hall, taking some of the pressure off
the chief and his deputy, Lynn
Hickey.
