at the organ on Sunday.

cuperating for several weeks since
her operation for appendicitis, has
returned to her duties as book-keep-
er with Jones & May.
Rain is needed badly. There are
hundreds of acres of land waiting
to be fall plowed. The plowing
match billed for last Wednesday has
been postponed iudefinately.
Next Sunday Rev. F. E. Clysdale
will conduct anniversary services at
Parkhill, and Rev. H. E. Livingstone
of EIimville will be in charge of the
services in Main St. church, Exeter.
The Southcott family -Motored to
Chatham on Sunday to visit Rev. R.
E. Southcott. -The latter returned-
with them leaving Monday evening
for Toronto to attend the Missionary.

the Junior Guild of the Trivitt Mem-
orial Church in the Sunday School,

and amusements were enjoyed by all

orated with, Hallowe'en decorations.

A very pleasant evening was

Presbyterian Young Peoples' •;Guild
at a Hallow'e'en (Party held in the
basement of the Church on. Wednes-
day evening ' Oct. 29-th. Fortune
telling was a feature of the evening
and games and refreshments- typic-
al of the night were much enjoyed.
Mr. Reuben Mclnnis, of Bluevale,
has purchased Mrs. F-. Witwer's res-
idence in Exeter North and will get
possession in 'December. Mrs.' Wit-
wer will hold an auction sale of her
household effects on Saturday. See

spending the. winter with her dau-
ghters in Kitchener' and Toronto.
A joint meeting of the Anglican
and Presbyterian Young Peoples
Societies was held on Monday even-
ing Nbv. 3rd, in the Anglican
School Hall. The main feature of
the program was Lantern Slides the
first series showedpart of the work
the St. Christopher Settlement Hou-
se Toronto, and. the slides were ably
explained by : Miss Hale. The -re-
mainder of the slides were (devoted
to "The Story of Ruth" explained
by Rev. Mr. Foote. A solo by Miss
Pry -de was much enjoyed.
Several from Exeter were in
Graviton on Wednesday attending
the funeral of the late John Parkin-
son who died- on Monday, aged 75.
years. The deceased had been ail-
ing for about two years. He is sur-
vived by his widow three sons and
three -daughters, George, Frank and
Harvey all of Blanshard; 1VIrs. John
Whiteford, of Woodham, Mrs. A.
Chittick, of Granton, and Miss Ade-
laide, at home. hrr. David Parkin-
son, of Huron` St.,- and Miss Park-
inson, of Simcoe St. are brother and
sister.
On Monday of this week lVfr. W.
H. Lockwood,.. who has purchased
the bakery business. of Mr. W. " 3.
Statham, took -possession. He comes
to Exeter highly recommended and
we welcome him, his wife and three.
