Milverton, Ripley squad
The Wingham Legion PeeWees
handed .losses to Ripley and
Milverton in last week's play.
A late Saturday afternoon
exhibition encounter between the
Legion lads and the Ripley Stars saw
• theiads come -out on top by a score of
'4-0.

Jonathon Lane was great in a
penalty -killing role and stick -
handled for miles when he was given
the ice to do so. Murray MacLeod
has had two solid games back -to-
back since being Moved up on the
wing from his defensive position.
Matt Elmslie stopped seven shots
through three periods, recording his
second _ shut -out of the" .season.. His
teammates- directed 29 shots on the
Ripley Stars' net, denting the twine
on four
occasions. Eric Deyell
played up and down his wing,
causing problems for the Ripley
skaters.
SCORING SUMMARY -® Shane
Pegg wristed a long, high shot past a
well -screened goaltender. The assist
went to' Lane. Matthew Hunter
tucked the next one between 'the
goalie's legs on the rebound from a
slap shot from Gond' Welch=tori the
right point with the second assist
going to Deyell. .
With two seconds left in the period,
Jonathon Balzer got the puck back to
Welch on the right point and he
hammered it past the Ripley net -
minder.
In the third frame, MacLeod flip-
ped Wingham's fourth marker over

Bantams hosted Mitchell and,
despite a strong effort, the team
dropped a 5-2 decision. The loss
evened the club's record at 4 and 4.

On the weekend, the Bantams.
were one of 15 teams competing at
the Harriston-Minto Tournament.
On Saturday, Wingham advanced to
the second round. The dub played

were played at the regular horse-
shoe session last Thursday evening
at the Wingham Sportsmen's Club.
Leon Russell and Don Saunders
were first with four wins and a plus
of 26, while Bill Tiffin and Harold
Carter were second at three wins
and a plus of 54.
In third spot were Bruce
Casemor°e and Syd Lawson, three
wins and a plus of 39. Kevin Scoft
and Alex Boa clairtied fourth Spot
with three wins and a plus of M.

evening in a game that saw 44
minutes in penalties divided equally

After a scoreless first period, the
teams traded goals in the second. In
the third perbod„three unanswered
goals dented the twine behind. the
Milverton goaltender to salt away
the win for the lads.
SCORING SUMMARY — In the
second period, Brett Sangster
scored a great heads -up play from
Balzerain the corner out to Evans on
the point, who then got the puck in to
Sangster. He made no mistake in
tucking the puck behind the
Milverton goalie.
MacLeod scored hisfirst goal of
the season with the assist going to
Evans on what turned out to be the
winning marker. Insurance markers
were scored by Lane from Hunter
and Balzer from Lane to round out
the Legion PeeWees' scoring.
The Legion lads go against Bel -
grave in an exhibition match next
Thursday in Blyth.
