Fiddle extravaganza
coming to Teeswater
-,On- Saturday, Oct. 29, the Tees -
water Town Hall will be filled with
strains of music which could be
classified as music "from days gone
by". "Fiddle Extravaganza" will
bring, at one time, four Canadian
champion fiddlers to the stage.
Ed Gyurki of Woodstock is no
stranger to fiddle fans as he has won
the Canadian Open in Shelburne a -
total of seven times. Ed is a regular
on Polka Time on CKCO-TV and is
always busy with performing and
judging.
Ed is not the only Gyurki who
plays the violin. His daughter,
Joanne, is a fiddler in her own right.
Only 22 years old, she has already '
captured numerous awards, the
most recent the Canadian Inter-
mediate Champ at Shelburne.
Joanne is currently enrolled in the'
- Music program at the University of
Western Ontario.
• - Scott Woods, the third fiddler, is
another Canadian, champ as he has
won the novelty competition in Shel-
burne for three 'years. A young
fiddler ivho is a forte to be reckoned
With, now and in year to come,
Scott is kepi ,btisy, competing. and
playing in their -family group,--The-
Woods niftily.' Many have seen
Scott in this area before as
played for ...Janice.: alfa
Stepdattee recital for the last thiee
years.

Very much related to old-time
music, Cana4a's Stepdancing
Sweethearts will also be there. The
McMichael Sisters, Janice, Karen,
Judith and Rhonda have been
dancing together for 17 years.
