Jim Bakelaar opened the meeting with a prayer, then welcomed everyone present. Plans are being made to open a pregnancy crisis centre in Mount Forest. The local pro-life group has signed another contract with CKNX for showing its commercials for the next six months. Mr. Bakelaar attended the national rally in Ottawa where he was privileged to hear Mother Teresa speak. There were ap- proximately 40,000 pro -lifers ir. attendance. It was an unforgettable experience. The group planned to have an information booth at the Teeswater Fall Fair on the weekend. Guests attend special service BLUEVALE—Mrs. Glenn Golley opened the Oct. 2 meeting of the Women's Missionary Society with a thanksgiving theme. A hymn was sung, then the president welcomed families from Bluevale United and Belmore and Wingham Presbyter- ian Churches. Mrs. William Elston read scrip- ture from the fifth chapter of St. Luke's Gospel, following with comments telling the group they should be thankful for all beautiful things. She said, ""Life is precious and we can find pleasure in each season.". In closing, she.. read a poem, "The Thankful Heart", followed by prayer. The offering was accepted, with prayer by Mrs. Golley. Mrs. Mabel Nicholson played hymns and in- strumental piano music which was enjoyed by everyone. Business included an invitation to attend the Maitland Presbyterial at Teeswater Oct. 17. Mrs, Alex MacTavish introduced Miss Marjorie Ann McMichael who showed slides and gave an in- teresting commentary of her seven months in Australia. She went on an agricultural exchange program. Her host farm consisted of 12,000 acres with 10,000 sheep and Hereford cattle. She told of shearing the sheep. The wool is put into 450 -pound bales, then taken to a large sale where it is bought and sent all over the world. Miss McMichael also had a very interesting display of money, flowers, woodwork and stuffed animals. Mrs. Golley thanked her on behalf of the ladies. A closing hymn was sung and prayer by Mrs. Golley closed the meeting. Lunch and a social time followed. .g:)etteo.,cet4 Mr. and Mrs. David Bosnian and daughters, Sarah and. Carnes at seven o'clock on Sept. 9 at the home of the bride's parents in Nile. The bride is a daughter of Madelene and Keith Kerr of Nile and the groom is a son of Mary and Leonard Houghton, Wingham. . The bride was given in marriage by her father and her hogor at- tendant was Cindy Austin of Goderich. Murray Houghton of Wingham was groomsman. Melissa Moore of Goderich was flower girl and the rings were carried by Cory Kerr (Houghton) of Goderich. Helen Campbell and Bill Barwise provided special music. Following ...the.. wedding, a reception was held at Saltford Valley Hall Thankoffering service is preceded b;.I: dimer FORDWICH—A joint supper meeting was held Oct. 3 at the United Church, the evening unit hosting a bountiful meal, followed by the business meeting led by president, Mrs. Jack Mann, Several business items and preparations for the fowl supper on Oct. 25 were discussed. Mrs, Glenn Johnston thanked the evening unit for the delicious supper, on behalf of the afternoon unit. The worship service and program were in charge of the afternoon unit. Mrs. Elmer Harding opened the worship with a reading entitled "Thanksgiving". A hymn was followed by scripture reading by Mrs. Scott Clarkson who also spoke on new dimensions of Thanksgiving and gave readings, "The Grace of Gratitude" and "In Everything Give Thanks". Six members of the choir sang "Let Thy Mantle Fall on Me" and the thankoffering was received by Mrs. Don Beek and dedicated by Mrs. Jack Mann. Mrs. Leo Ruttan introduced the guest speaker, Miss Selina Horst of St. Jacobs,'• who spoke and showed slides of South America where she attended the Mennonite World Conference. Mrs. Nicholson gave a summary of the trip to Toronto for those unable to go and read a stgry from The Presbyterian Record written by.' Rev. John Congram, whom the ladies met at the office of the Record while on the bus trip.. The secretary's report wasgive by Mrs. Robena McBurney and Mrs. Ivy Cloakey gave the treasurer's report.
