Beam Feb. 17, 1902, in grey
Township, Mrs. Metcalfe was, the
former Margaret Myrtle Bennett,
daughter of the late Thomas Bennett
and Jane Savage.. She gralivated .
from Stratford Noran;al School ,in
1921 and taught at Manitowaning,
Manitoulin Island, Ferndale and
Glenannan Public Schools prior to
her marriage in 1927. She and her
husband then farmed on the 10th
concession of Turnberry Township
until their retirement to Wingham.
Mrs. Metcalfe was a member of
St. Paul's Anglican Church and the
Evening Guild of the church. She
also belonged to the Women's
Institute and the Majestic Rebekah
Lodge.-

Funeral service was held Friday,
Sept. 30, at two o'clock at The
McBurney Funeral Home, Rev.
Douglas G. Madge officiating. Her
final resting place is Wingham
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons,
Scott, Murray and Ian Metcalfe,
Michael and Steven Toman and
Blake Ferguson. A great-grandson,
Kyle Underwood, was flower bearer,
Mrs. Viola Campbell was
resident of Brookhaven
Members of her family and resi-
dents and friends of Brookhaven
Nursing Home, RR 1, Wingham, are
this week mourning the loss of a
dear mother, grandmother and
friend, Mrs. Viola Campbell, who
died in Wingham and District Hos-
pital on Saturday, Oct. 1, She was 87
years of age.
Mrs. Campbell, the former Viola
Vivian McLeod, was a native of
Manitoba. She had resided at RR 2,
Bluevale, second concession of
Morris, prior to goingto live at
Brookhaven. Her parents were the
late John James McLeod and Sarah
Robb,
Mrs. Campbell was predeceased
by her husband, Graham Campbell,

Wingham and District Hospital on
Saturday, Oct. 1, Ernest Steckle
Eaton of Wingham, formerly of the
Ottawa area, in his 66th year. He
was the beloved husband of the late
Marianne (Alton) (1985); dear
father of Mrs. Peter (Maribeth)
Maniate of Mississauga and Allan
Eaton of Hamburg, West Germany;
grandfather of Allan Maniate,
Michael and Benjamin Eaton;
brother of Margaret Berry of
Burlington, Eunice Wonnacott of
Prince Edward Island, George
Eaton of British Columbia and
Roger Eaton, Prince Edward
Island. Friends may call at The
McBurney Funeral Home today
(Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Wed-
nesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's
Anglican Church, Rev. Douglas
Pitts officiating. Interment will
follow in Wingham -Cemetery.
Branch 180, Royal Canadian Legion,
will hold a memorial service in the
funeral home Tuesday evening at
7:30. Donations to the charity of
one's choice would be gratefuli
acknowledged as expressions of
sympathy.
McLAU'GHLIN ®- Passed away a
Huronview, Clinton, on Saturday
Oct. 1, Miss Verna McLaughlin
formerly of Wingham, in her 94t
year. The beloved daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. William
McLaughlin, she is survived by
several nieces and nephews. Sh
in Aug. of 1968. She is survived by
two sons, Allan of RR 2, Bluevale
and Harris of Bluevale; six grand-
children and one great-grandchild,
also one niece, Mrs. Doug (Flora)
Hesk, RR 2, Goderich. She was pre-
deceased by one sister, Mrs. Andy
(Christine) Turnbull
Complete funeral and committal
service was held Monday at two
o'clock at the Brussels Chapel of M.
L. Watts Funeral Homes, conducted
by Rev. Bonnie Lamble of Bluevale
United Church where Mrs. Campbell
had been a member. Interment
followed in Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mel Jermyn,
Jim Shaw, Glenn Johnston, Albert
Clarke, Gilbert Brand, and Adrian
Brand.
As expressions of sympathy,
donations to the Bluevale United
Church or the Wingham and District
Hospital would be appreciated by
the family.
Mrs. Cardiff dies
at her residence
A longtime resident of the Brus-
sels area, Mrs. Florence Cardiff,
died at her residence, Maplevilla,
Brussels, on Monday, Sept. 26, in her
81st year.

The former Florence Mary Brem-
ner
remner was born in Grey Township and
was predeceased by her husband,
Albert E. Cardiff, on March 22, 1980.
She is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. Bob (Jean) Wolfe of Vernon,
B.C. and Mrs. George (Isabel) Pear-
son
earson of Ethel; three sons, Jim of
Brussels, Jack, RR 5, Brussels and
Jerry, Petrolia; 18 grandchildren
and 24 great-grandchildren. There
are two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Ida)
Cooper of Brussels and Mrs. Frank
(Kathleen) Lawless, Alliston and
one brother, Andrew Bremner,
Ethel. She was predeceased by one
