MARY
The, Oracle Ores are finishing the
bear iunit. They went to the
Wawanosh Conserve' ion Area, en
Monday to discuss the-aalges of
fall andare looking at flu rers. They
got their first book orders.
The Grade 2 class is doing
research about mice and rats. The
students also are studying the
changes of fall.
The Grade 3 class is doing leaf
projects and is going to the.
conservation area as well.
The Kindergarten youngsters
went to the apple orchards. They
then made apple sauce and apple
muffins. They are singing songs.
JUNIORS.
Last week, the Grade 4 class was
working on an insect study. They
have ,praying- mantises and crickets.
in the classroom. •
The Grade 5-6 class had a
volunteer come to the classroom.
Her name is Mrs. Corrigan. They
also had a coop student, Miss
Fortnne, come in. The other Grade 6
class'had to bring in pictures of
themselves at any age.
INTERMEDIATE
In music last week, Miss
Balsdon's Grade 7 class was
learning a song on the recorders
entitled "Merrily". In history and
geography, they were put into
groups for a project on Indians,
including Plains, Sub -Arctic and
Eastern Woodland.
The Grade 726 class is reading
Tavik and the Land I Lost. In art,
they are doing rock art and in
science they had to bring in an

DOUBLE WEDDING
An exceedingly interesting event
enlivened the home of Mr. and Mrs.
John Willits of Turnberry in October
of 1907 when a double wedding was
solemnized. The brides were Miss
May Willits and Miss Victoria
Willits. Their respective grooms
were , John Henry and Percy
Copeland.

All reminisced about former
experiences in the Sunday School.
Others present who had held key
positions in the Wingham United
Church Sunday School included:
Lloyd Hutton, Kincardine; Jack
Walker, Goderich; Mrs. Marples,
Toronto; Earl Hamilton, Mr.
Caslick, Janet Reid, Hilda Grant
and Mrs. Ward, all of Wingham.
To . help commemorate me
occasion, the sanctuary was
decorated by Marilyn Irwin and
Carol Reid with flowers contributed
by the Long family from the
Lawson -Long wedding and by the
family of the late Hill Conran in his
memory.
Downstairs, the Don Carter family
decorated the hall with posters and
balloons. Mrs, Ward led the opening
exercises with hymns of former
days and by having the children sing
"Happy Birthday" around a 'mock
cake duly lit wf t sparklers denoting
thg 125•.yeats.
SAD CHRISTMAS
December of 1907 was a very sad
time for Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P.
rtes of Turnberry. Five days
before Christmas, some of their
children complained of not feeling
well and it was thought they were,
tatting the mumps. It turned out to
be diphtheria and four days before
Christmas, two-year-old Louis died•.
