BELGRAVE--A large congreg
tion celebrated anniversary servi
in Knox United Church on Sunda
Sept. 25, as people voiced th
praise and thanksgiving to God
the newly -renovated house of w .
ship. Arrangements of multi -colored
zinnias, gladioli and roses in th
vestibule and sanctuary, suppl
by two potted pink azaleas
bloom and a bud vase on ea
windowsill adorned with colt
blooms, made an attractive setting
for the service. Members fro
Calvin -Brick and neighboring
churches joined with Belgrav
members for the occasion.
Mrs. George Procter, organist an
Mrs. Leslie Shaw, pianist, supplie
sacred prelude numbers, as well a
accompaniment for the hymns. Th
large choir of mixed voices sang
"Make a Joyful Noise" and "It
Good", with Mrs. Procter ac
companist.
Rev. John G. Roberts extended a
warm welcome to visiting church
members and to the guest speaker,
Rev. Robert J. Roberts and family
of Dungannon. Robert Roberts, a
former resident of the same area in
Wales as John Roberts, was met and
greeted on his 1976 arrival in Canada
by the Belgrave minister. This was
he first meeting of the two Roberts
families:
The guest speaker chose scripture
from Paul's Epistle to the Hebrews
nd St. Luke's Gospel, centering his
message on Jesus' confrontation
with His followers about John the
aptist and using "We piped and you
would not dance; we wailed and you.
ould not weep" as the theme
erses. To know words of another
language but not be able to interpret
heir meaning, is useless. The
sraelites listened to Moses but
missed his interpretation.. They did
t know God
The speaker continued by saying
at the Israelites believed and
aited for the Messiah to Bonne.

not the Messiah, so they didn't react
to the piping and wailing. He said
that God is telling present-day
followers to "Wake Up", saying,
"You are lowering your standards
through abortion, and, your, aattitude,
toward the aged. and disabled"...
In closing, Mr. Roberts warned,
"If we who know don't listen, we are ..
more guilty than the Roman soldier
who ' drove the nails into Jesus'
Hands! God is speaking; Wake up! "

construction:.,eites, men bringing
goods to mow, and: men pulling
visitors around in rickshaws.
Jennifer Procter provided musical
entertainment for the meeting
The Institute agreed to look into
the possibility of . insulating, siding
and putting new windows on the WI
Hall. Mrs. Glenn Coultes is the
delegate to the upcoming area
