Mrs. Groskorth
hosts meeting
Whitechurch—The United Church
Women held their August meeting at
the home of Mrs. Elwood Groskorth
of Goderich on Aug. 31. Mrs. Pauline
Adams gave the call to worship and
a hymn began the meeting.
Rev. John Neilson read scripture
from I Peter and led ill prayer. Mrs.
Adams read an article, "Share the
Journey", from the stewardship
magazine. Mr. Neilson gave an
interesting account of a meeting
place opened in 1982 in Woodstock to
help the poor people of the city. Mrs.
Neilson told of a centre in Toronto
which helps single refugees with
food and clothing while waiting for a
• hearing to start a new life. This is
supported by the United Church
_Mission and Service. Fund, Mr,
' Neilson said there are, 12 million
refugees in the world today.
Twelve answered the roll call with
a reading op stewardship. The
offering and Least Coin were
received and Mr. Neilson gave the
offertory prayer.

Mills visited last Sunday with Mrs.
Edna Doig.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Leach en-
tertained last Sunday, Sept. 4, at a
family picnic'. Almost 20 relatives
from Plattsville, Kitchener and
Fordwich attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Gibson and
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ruttan, Ryan and
Andrea, spent last weekend at
Amberley.
The-synapathy of the community is
extended to Mr. and Mrs. Doug
Harding in the death of her father,
Ron Demham of Kirkton.

Church, Wingham, held its monthly
meeting in the upper room on Tues-
day, Sept. 6. Mrs. G. Wall and Mrs.
R. McKay were 'in charge of the
meeting.
