Shelley Gibson has returned home
after visiting for the past several
weeks with her friend, . Amanda
Gudgeon, in England. The two girls
also spent some time in on the Island
of Corfu in northern Greece,
Mrs. Betty Bride of Palmerston,
Mrs. Evelyn Wilson and Mrs. Annie
Pittendreigh were guests of Mrs.
Elva Cooper last Sunday.
Mrs. Alex Wray and Mrs. Ahna
Hargrave attended the Fergus
Highland Games last Saturday.

the opening day of the Canadian
National Exhibition last week in

Mrs. Ethel Dennis spent a
weekend with her daughter, Mrs.
Hugh Hart and Mr. Hart at RR 1,
Gadshill, recently. While _there, they
attended a family gathering at the
home of a grandson, Robert Hart,
also of RR 1, Gadshill.
Mrs. Kevin Raven of Etobicoke
spent a few days recently visiting
with her mother, Mrs. Ethel Dennis.
The two ladies also paid a visit to
Mrs. Verna Thomas of Brussels.

visited Mrs. James Smith of
Lucknow last Wednesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. John Van de Kemp
and Mr. and Mrs. Thaus Van de
Kemp of -Northern Holland have
returned home after spending three
weeks with Mr. and Mrs. John Van
de Kemp Sr. and other relatives.
Mrs. Alba Fawcett of Brandon,
Man., visited with Mr, and Mrs.
Larne, Robinson recently.

attended the funeral of Mrs. A. L.
(Helen) Stephens last Friday and
spent the weekend with Mrs. Cecil

Dilworth of Kitchener visited last
Thursday at the same home.
Bible school
attracts 60
youngsters
FORDWICW.Vacation Bible
School was held the first two weeks
of August in the village. An average
of 60 enthusiastic children took part.
They enjoyed films, recreational
activities and music.
There were 24 helpers, including
Rev. John Stinson and Rev. Don
Beck, as well as the Lockie family
members, who helped with the
successful opening exercises. Those
in charge extend a warm thank -you
to those who helped in any way.

arrived last Saturday to spend one
year in Canada on a student.

Mrs. Ellen Gow of Guelph visited
for a few days last week with, Mrs.
Florence Wilson.
Sunday guests of Mrs. Jean
Clarkson were Mr. and Mrs, Ross
Atkinson of North Bay and Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Seip of Exeter. The Seips'
three children returned home with
them after having spent a few days
with their grandmother, Mrs.
Clarkson.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bride of Don
Mills visited last Thursday with
Mrs. Edna Doig.
Mr, and Mrs. Howard. Stand of
Listowel have purchased the ,Anson
Demerling home. They plan to move
soon and we welcome them and their
family to our village.

FORDWICH--Trinity Anglican
Church Women met recently at the
home of Mrs. Wally Nixon for the
August meeting. The president, Mrs.
Bill Sothern, opened the, meeting
with a prayer, welcomed everyone
and thanked the hostess.
Mrs. Stewart Rowley led the
devotions and the roll call was
answered by 15 members with get -
well cards.
Several reports were given and a
thank -you, was received for the 13
bales recently sent. It was
announced the group will cater to a
wedding Sept. 17 and a donation was
made to the Bible school, which was
held in the United Church.
Members were asked to
remember the bazaar and bake sale,
scheduled for early November. The
president also asked the group to
look after the lunch for a wedding
anniversary in October.
Mrs. Peter Browne presented a
chapter from the study book.
The September, meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Stewart
Rowley and each member is to bring
something for an auction. The ladies
also were reminded of their "secret
pals" and to keep the birthday box in
mind.
The meeting closed with grace and
Mrs. Bruce Armstrong conducted a
few games of bingo. Lunch was
served by Ethna Foster and Mrs.
Emmerson Ferguson, assisted by
the hostess.

Mr. & Mrs, Murray Cook
reside in Kincardine
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Cook are
residing in Kincardine following
their exchange of marriage vows at
four o'clock on Saturday, July 2.
Rev. John Roberts performed the
ceremony and Mrs. Sydney Thomp-
son. was ..,organist.., Pamela_ Shaw
contributed vocal solos during the
celebration of joy.
The bride is the former Terri
Gibbons, daughter of Edna Gibbons
of St. Thomas and Fred Gibbons of
Windsor. Parents of the groom are
Albert and Jean Cook, Belgrave.
The bride was . given in marriage
by her parents and wore a full-length
white satin gown with short veil. She
carried a bouquet of blue roses and
daisies.
Mary Slaght of Windsor was the
honor attendant. She wore a blue
satin cocktail -length dress and
carried a bouquet of blue roses and
daisies. In a full-length white gown
was the flower girl, Alycia Cook of
Kincardine. She carried blue roses,
daisies and baby's breath.
Eric Cook of Belgrave was best
man and guests were ushered by
Ernie Gibbons of Rodney, Barry
McDonald of Blyth, Allan Scott,
Belgrave and Pat Phalan, Goderich.
Ricky Gibbons of Kincardine was
ringbearer.
The Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre was decorated
with flowers, streamers and bells for
the reception which followed. A
three -tiered wedding cake centred
the head table. The bride's mother
wore a blue cocktail -length ' dress
and the groom's mother chose
mauve. Their corsagesmatched the
flowers in the bridal bouquet. An
honored guest at the wedding was
the groom's grandmother, Mrs.
Esthet McCallum of Brussels.
