Greg Lee and Bob Bennett of the
Wingham Air Cadets left Sunday to
attend Air Cadet Camp at Trenton.
Andrew Lee left Thursday for the
track and field competitions at
Laval, Quebec.
The village has lost two respected
longtime residents in the persons of
Mrs. Gordon (Annie) Edgar and
Mrs. Arthur (Helen) Stephens.

'BOWMAN-FOULON WEDDING — George and Iris Foulon of Red
Lake wish to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter,
Lorfa Lee, to Murray Bowman. The marriage will take place on Satur-
dal Aug. 27, in the Erb Street Mennonite Church,
Waterloo. The
groom is the son of Lorne and Ruth Bowman of Waterloo.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO DESIGNATE
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town
of Wingham intends to designate the property, including lands
and buildings, at the following municipal address as a property
of architectural and/or historical value or interest under Part IV
of the Ontario Heritage Act, 1974, R.S.O., 1980, Chapter 337.
MUNICIPAL ADDRESS - Southeast corner of John Street
East and Diagonal Road, Wingham.
REASONS FOR THE PROPOSED DESIGNATION - The land
for erection of a War Memorial was selected over four other
sites by a committee of council in conjunction with a commit-
tee of the Wingham Lions Club in 1922 and a debenture issue
for the purpose was approved by the electorate in the election
at the end of the same year.
The bronze monument was unveiled by Sir Arthur Currie on
August 26, 1924. Two bronze column lights, erected by the
Women's Patriotic Society were turned on for the first time on
November 11, 1924..
The property selected already contained a bench mark monu-
ment placed by the Geodetic Survey of Canada in 1917.
Subsequent additions to the War Memorial commemorate the
Second World War and the Korean War.
This propel ty has come to be one of the most revered land-
marks in the Town,of Wingham.
Notice of objection to the proposed designation, together with
a statement of reasons for the objection and all relevant facts
may be served on the clerk of the Town of Wingham before.

Whitechurch—The Women's
Institute travelled . to the Bruce
Nuclear Power Development at
Douglas Point on Wednesday, Aug.
10. The 17 ladies were shown a short
movie about the plant, then enjoyed
dinner at the cafeteria.. They then
boarded a bus for -a tour of the site
which consists of 2,300 acres, with
4,000 workers now as compared to
8,'00 *hen they were building it.
The ladies then travelled to the
Pine River Cheese Factory for a
tour of the plant. There a movie was
shown, telling how the cheese is
made.
This was Agnes Farrier's meeting
on Canadian Industries and it was a
very interesting day. The group
thanks the ladies who took cars:
Mrs. Farrier, Mrs. Catherine
Wilson, Mrs. Brenda Day and Mrs.
Barbara Carey.

Rev. Rea Grant officiated for the
ceremony which was solemnized in
a lovely floral and candlelight
setting. Iiap Swatrid"fe"was organist,
and Juanita Arkell was soloist. They
performed "If" and "We've Only
Just Begun".
Parents of the couple are Marie
and Harold Lamont of Wingham and
Lona and James Schill of Teeswater.
The bride wore an elegant off -the -
shoulder white floor -length gown
featuring a fitted bodice trimmed
with sequins and pearls. The sleeves
were adorned with sequins and tiers
of scalloped lace at the shoulders.
Tiers of scalloped lace were also
featured on the train of the dress. A
matching hat with a puff and veil
completed the bride's ensemble. She
carried a trailing bouquet of lilies
n
n
gladioli and ribbon, interspersed
with glittering baby's breath. The
flowers were in colors of the at-
tendants' dresses.
The maid of honor was Deborah
Lamont of Wingham, sister of the
bride. She wore a baby blue satin
cocktail -length dress with spaghetti
straps, gathered bodice, jacket, hat
and matching accessories. The
idesmaids were Donelda Eis-
enhofer of Kitchener, sister of the
bride; Kate Montgomery of Wing -
ham, sister of the groom and Debbie
Metcalfe of Wingham, friend of the
bride. They wore identical cocktail -
length dresses, each in a pastel
color, and carried bouquets similar
to the bride's.
The flower girl was Julie Lamont
of Teeswater, niece of the bride. She
wore a white floor -length dress
trimmed with ruffles and a back
bow. She wore mini roses and baby's
math in her hair and carried a
gasket of silk flowers. Thomas
Montgomery of Wingham, nephew
f the groom, was ringbearer.
The best man was Lee Cowley of i
Ingham, friend of the groom.

evening with Mr. and Mrs. David
Ross.
Mrs. Janis Davis, Scott and Mark
of La Salle visited last week with her
mother, Mrs. Agnes Farrier. On
Wednesday, Janis and the boys
visited with Mrs. Sandra Machan of
Brussels.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and
Karen visited. Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Laidlaw of Dorchester:
Michelle and Jason returned home
with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Winger and
family of Ethel were supper guests
last Monday evening with Mr, and
Mrs. Clifford Laidlaw.
Brian Ross visited on the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Benoit
and family of Springfield. Mr. and
Mrs. Benoit lived on the Jack
Morrison farm before moving to the
Springfield area.
Mildred McClenaghan was a guest
at the wedding and reception of
Mervin Huffman and Brenda Bailie
who were married Saturday, Aug. 6,
n St. Paul's Anglican Church,
Wingham. The newlyweds are
esiding1in Wingham.
