Writer _._. about the early days The following letter was received recently by Gordon Gibson . of Wroxeter: It was written by David Aitchison, who worked for Mr. Gibson some 40 years ago. He now resides in MacDiarmid, Ont. Dear Gordon, I heard it said on the radio this morning, that you are 90 years old. I don't expect you to remember me, I worked for you in the summer of '48 if my memory hasn't slipped a cog. One of the jobs we did was the bridge over the Maitland River in Gorrie. We used my jeep to drive a pump to keep the . water out of a coffer dam. There was a storekeeper named Cliff Cook and two brothers named Hanna and my brother Jeff drove your truck. I can see the faces of your "straw -boss and several other men, but I am sorry I can't recall their names. There was still an old-fashioned blacksmith shop in Gorrie (owned by Jim Shera) and also a museum. The museum owner, Herb Neil, had made a working model of a human hand that went through the motions of milking a cow. Would you say there has been quite a few pails of water flowed through under the bridges during the 40 years since then? Wishing you all the best for a long time yet. David A.
