Final two e • isodes of soap opera' will be z Those who thought the first two segments of "Dinsley, The Soap Not the Street" were zany had better not miss • the action -packed conclusion this Friday and Saturday at Blyth. Playwright Colleen Curran promises this Friday's "The Takeover" and Saturday's "The Trial" as performed by the Blyth Young Company, will have plenty of twists and surprises. Even those who missed "The Homecoming" and "The Wedding" late last month will have no trouble following the tale of twin sisters, one evil, one good and the day-to-day trials of the varied people of the town of Dinsley. Ms. Curran says her inspiration for "Dinsley, The Soap Not the Street" came from several sources. She was commissioned by write the play for the Young Company by Myth Festival Artistic Director Katherine Kaszas earlier this year. The soap opera is the perfect vehicle, Ms. Curran says. It has everything — romance, passion, drama, comedy. Soap operas, even though they are exaggerated, are about life. "Dinsley" also features something else common to soap IIINIM11511111 ARTHRMTHES SOCIETY GRADUATION IIELD The graduating exercises at the Wingham hospital were held in June of 1919. The graduates that year were Miss 'Olive Terriff of Whitechurch and Miss Minerva Smith of Kinloss. President of the board, J. A. McLean, acted as chairman and the diplomas and medals were presented by Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Stewart. There was no hospital of its size in Ontar where better work was done OI betterservice given than the Wingham hospital. The Young Company members were told to be perfectly honest in their approach to their roles, she says and have been urged to add depth to their characters and find their own props. Earlier this summer, Mimi Meckler, a Toronto acting teacher, worked with the young people doing acting exercises and games. From those exercises she, Ms. Curran and director Ron Gabriel decided who would play the different parts in the play. For example, who would think sweet Becky Penn would end up playing the evil twin Cathy or Ian Morton, the swaggering dowser, Jonas Culver. It's not all fun and games for these young actors. They aU amseri010 about perfecting their craft and some have been in the Young Company for many years. The Young Company is better than appearing in, for example, a school productionsay the young 'actor4, because everyone is serious about acting And wants to learn. Several even say they would like to pursue acting as their life's work. They also enjoy working with and Meeting the actors from the main stage at Blyth and dream of the day when they too may be onstage there. However, no one is talking about what will happen in episodes three and four of "Dinsley, The Soap Not the Street'. It seems Ms. Curran has them sworn to silence.
