the field of throwers. She easily won..
both the shot put and discus events
with throws of 9.91 metres and 31m
respectively.

women's discus (ages 19 and under)
with a throw of 38.51m.
Both girls competed as members
of Team Ontario.

awarded a $150,000 grant under the

ment, Development and Economic
revitalization (PRIDE), Huron
MIT and • Ontario • Minister of
Agriculture and Food Jack'Riddell
has announced.

wilt perform at

The Huron Country Playhouse
Young Company will bring its
original play "Stories From Around
The Bend" to three Huron County
branch libraries on Saturday, Aug.
20.
The play will be presented at the
Kirkton Branch at 10 a.m., the
Clinton Branch at 1:30 p.m. and the
Wingham Branch at 3:30 p.m.
The Young Company has created
'an affectionate cartoon -style look at
the origins and development of the
area around Grand Bend. With a
mixture of original music, period
songs, laughter and drama, this
production moves briskly through
the decades celebrating local
triumphs and personalities.
Sponsored by the Huron County
Public Library, the production is
family entertainment for all ages.
Everyone is ,welcome and, the ad-
mission is free.

The grant to Blyth is'part of a total
of $15 million to more than 70
municipalities across Ontario. ' -
The PRIDE prograni provides
assistance for projects in all older
sections of a municipality, including
residential, commercial, water? 1
front, industrial .and;mixed,use
areas. Mr. Riddell said the program
is designed to help municipalities.

Financial assistance is inthe form
of a grant covering 50 per cent of
improvement, and bud acquisition
costkfor comprehensive community
improvement projects.• •

municipal services, utilities and
parking facilities intended to serve
the project area.
—Nsthetic improvements such as
streetscape upgrading ,and land-
scaping

and buildings. -
' —Relocation costs including mov-
ing coats and related compensation.
