Mrs. Florence Wilson welcomed everyone and Mrs. Ron Livermore led in community singing. After a short program, Mrs. Jack Wilson expressed best wishes to Helen and Anson on behalf of everyone and they were presented with a money tree and a card, with best wishes from friends in and around the village. They thanked everyone and lunch was served, • KNITTING FACTORY CONING Early in 1917, the president of the Board of Trade announced that he had received a letter from the Colonial Knitting Co. of Ehnira, stating that if Wingham would promise to supply them with 50 girls, - they would open a branch in this town. They promised to pay $6.00 a week to girls when they began and they would place them on piece work as soon as they were able to earn more wages. She proceeded down the aisle to meet her bridegroom, Don John- ston of Ottawa and they exchanged marriage vows before Rev. John Vaudry. Pink, white and blue flowers surrounded flickering candles that formed the •altar setting of candelabra for the double -ring ceremony. W. Cameron was organist and vocal , music was provided by the New Life Singers. Caryn's parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Mann of Wingham. The groom is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnston, formerly of Ompah, Ontario. Given in marriage by her pannts, Caryn designed her own headpiece and carried a bouquet of white carnations, roses and baby's breath, touched with bits of greenery: Her. mother redesigned and altered her wedding dress. Jackie Tilker, friend of the bride, of Toronto, was maid of honor and bridesmaids 'were the groom's cousin; Kim Woods Of Kingston and the bride's cousin, Maureen Adams of Ajax. They wore cocktail -length gowns of periwinkle blue satin and carried bouquets of pink carnations, fresia, pink statis and baby's breath. In a miniature version of the same gown was the flower girl, Hayley Johnston, niece of the groom, of Kingston. She wore a crown of flowers in her hair and carried a bouquet similar to those carried by the senior attendants. For travelling to Edmonton, Jas- • per, Banff and Calgary, the bride wore an aqua sheath dress. The couple is now residing in Orleans, Ontario. The bride is a recreologist at Royal Ottawa Hospital and the groom -is sales manager for Lajoie Products Inc. Out-of-town guests attended the wedding from Ompah, Kingston, Ottawa, Toronto, Ridgetown, Strat- ford, London, Haliburton and Barrie. Especially honored to be a guest at his - granddaughter's wedding was Charles Adams of Starborough. 'DOCTOR OF MEDICINE Mark David MacLeod, son of Mr. and Mrs. David MacLeod and brother of Lisa, Bancroft, grad- uated cum laude with his doctor of medicine degree from the Uni- versity of Western Ontario on June 3. At convocation, he re- ceived the Dr. Fred N. Hagerman Prize in surgery. He is interning at Ottawa Civic Hospital and plans to do a residency in ortho- paedic surgery following his internship.
