In honor of that, a "Happy Anni- versary Anne" poetry contest for youngsters between the ages of eight and 14 has beemannounced. Contest coupons have been sent to bookstores and libraries, inviting children to write a poem about Anne in 75 words or less. All entries must be sent to Seal Books' head office by Aug. 31, along with the child's name, address, birthdate and telephone number. The grand prize consists of a one- week trip for a family of four to Prince Edward Island, home of heroine Anne Shirley. It includes round-trip flights from any urban centre in Canada served by Canadian Airlines International to Charlottetown, PEI, accom- modation on the island, 'a free lolb- ster supper, tickets to the "Anne of Green Gables" musical and $100 - worth of Seal or Bantam paper- backs. The win clinched first place for VVinghani in the eight -team league. Tim Currie pitched the distance for Wingham, allowing just four hits.
