We are busy making our murals
for the fall fair. We also were excited
about our primary assembly last
Tuesday morning. Last Friday at
noon was an important time as we
were trotting home with our report
cards in our hands.
We got a treat and a "thank -you"
letter from Mrs. McCaughan. She is
coming along nicely.
We had fun at our Ricnic on the
front lawn. Our bus trip to Story
Book Park was quite enjoyable.
A big thank -you is extended to all
the children for being super stars
and good workers from Mrs.
McCaughan, Mrs. McKay and Miss
Edgar:
Last week, Grade 3 enjoyed five
work activities at the Lambton
Heritage Museum as part of our
pioneer studies. A pioneer village,
including general store, ',school
house, grist mill, log cabin,
slaughter house, blacksmith and
covered wagons was constructed in
our room. To finish up this unit, we'll
be having a box social for our final
lunch of Grade 3.

Have a safe summer!
At the primary awards assembly
last Tuesday, each class had a short
presentation. Kindergarten
presented "Brave Little Indian";
the Grade 1 classes, "The Art of the
Violin" and "Left, Right" ; Grade 2s,
"The Owl and Pussycat" and
"Boom Cha" with an original poem
by Katherine Poole and Grade 3,
"Alice, the Camel".
Mr. Statia presented all the
children and their teachers with a
button commemorating their good
work this past year. These dedicated
folks spent the past year typing
stories, preparing materials and
listening to the children read. Thank
you, volunteers. Your efforts are
appreciated!
JUNIOR REPORT
Edited by Lasa Johnson
Last week was our last of the
school year. On Monday, the whole
school had a picnic for Mr. Cober
because he is leaving our school and
going to teach at another school.
On June 22, our class held a party,
as well as the awards assembly.
Last Thursday was the sports
assembly and the Grade 7 and 8
assembly. Have a great summer.
— Michelle Mueller
Grade 5, Room 11, is preparing a
gigantic` mural with the year's
highlights on it, from Wawanosh to
the oceans' unit, from Marineland to
skiing at Talisman, from the
electives to "Read All About It" and
more. It was quite a year!
— Wes Winkel
INTERMEDIATE REPORT
Our school has ended and the
Grade 8 class is cleaning up and
taking a lot of things home to make
the rooms ready for next year, /
There were a lot of assemblies last
week to hand out awards for the
work the students have 'done this
year.
The Grade 8 banquet and awards
ceremony was last Thursday and I
am sure all the students were
looking forward to that night.
— Brenda V.
As the year draws to a close,
tudents in Mr. Livermore's Grade 7
lass seem to be getting busier and
usier. Between two -pitch tour-
naments, assemblies and various
rips, the class is seldom complete.
The students thank all the
eachers at the Howick Central
chool for making 1987- a great
ear.
— Mary Feldskov
Aaron Stewart: I think the
rapevine crew worked really well
gether this year!
Sam Doubleday: This year was a
reat experience. Mrs. Scott was a
reat help in showing the rest of the
ditors and I how to change reports
om present to past tense. She
ught us words such as
uperfluous". Thank you!

Injuries minimal in two
separate road accidents
injuries were minimai to two sep-
arate accidents last week, according
to the Wingham detachment of the
Ontario Provincial Police.
An OPP spokesman reports that
David Weber, 51, of RR 1, Bluevale,
was northbound on Sideroad 5-6 of
Turnberry Township near the B-line
last Tuesday, June 21, when he
momentarily dozed off.
His left front tire dropped off the
road before the vehicle entered the
ditch and struck a tree stump. While
the police say Mr. Weber did not sus-
tain any serious injuries, damage to
his 1985 Ford van had been listed as
severe.
In a separate incident last Sunday
on Huron County Road 12 near the
Topnotch Feedmill in Howick
Township, the OPP report that 26 -
year -old Mark McTaggart of
Downsview was southbound at 4:25
p.m.
According to the pollee, Mr.
McTaggart fell asleep, hit the right
shoulder, swerved to the left and
then entered the right ditch, striking
a fence.
He was taken to Wingharn and
District Hospital in an OPP cruiser
for treatment of minor injuries. His
1981 Toyota Prelude was demolished
in the mishap.
another year. It has been very
gratifying to see the students
developing and using their computer
skills. Howick is indeed fortunate to
have one of the finest computer labs
in Huron County. The addition of an
Icon lab will strengthen the program
further.
On a personal note, I would like to
say "good.bye" to the staff, students
and parents at Howick. It is such a
different feeling leaving, after one
year as resource teacher, rather
than coming to the school as a
stranger.
It has been
an
exc
iting
and
challenging year, I believe the
`Lowick community can tame pride in
the excellent quality of education
offered here and the warm, caring
atmosphere is so obvious.
Individuals really do count at
Howick.
