This also was the qualifying meet for the International Youth Meet of Cham- pions to be held Aug., 5 and 6 in Toronto. Four athletes from the Wingham Optimist TrackandField Club qualified, including. Shawn Gedcke, Julie Lisle, Lesley Pike and Melissa Evers. Competitors had to place in the top three of their event and meet a set standard to qualify for the international meet. Gedcke ran a fine race to capture a silver medal in the Atom boys' 400 - metre with a time of 1:06.3, a personal bet. Lisle earned a silver medal in the Atom girls' high jump, clearing the bar at 1.30m. A.
