Gor- don and daughter, June, of Toronto, Motored up and spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Southcott. Mrs. Southcott accompanied them to Windsor, returning Tuesday. Mr. Robt. Higgins, of, Hensall who • has been appointed returning Officer for SouthHuronfor the coin- ing plebiscite, wasin town last week commencing to get things in shape for the taking of the vote. • Last week Mr: J.` G. Stanbury was called to Clinton to defend a citizen of • that town 'who- was charged be- fore the Police Magistrate with . a very serious offense. The result' of the trial was an honorable acquittal for the accused. ' Rev. E. Jones, of Staffa' occupied the pulpit, in Main 'St. Methodist church on Sunday' morning and in James St. in the evening. Rev. Jones is a graduate from the Exeter High School and he has many friends in town who were delighted ,to"` hear him preach. He delivered splendid sermons which were greatly apprec- iated.
