Also, as part of the same theme, each person has to make part of a circus. On Monday, June 6, the Oracle 2s went on a bus trip to Goderich where they visited the Historic Gaol House and the airport. They also went down to the lake and later ate lunch at a fast-food restaurant. They now have to draw a picture and write three sentences about what they saw on their trip. The Grade 3s went too. They made a fire skit and a play about firemen and policemen. They learned about fire and not to play with matches. In math, they have been working with the lilypads of math. They also pa ticipated in the school track a field day on June 6 and several them won ribbons. —Michelle MacDona On May 30 Mrs. Train's cla made a nutritious meal consisting fettuccini meatballs, Caesar sala garlic bread and milk. They enjoy preparing and eating the meal. Mr Robertson and Mr. Brereton we nvited to this tasty meal, part of th Monday cooking class. Field day was quite a thrill at Turnberry this year and the race for second place in the house league is hot! • Gord Welch INTERMEDIATES The Grade 6-7s have finished their unit on Anne of Green Gables, They now are going over apostrophes. In mathematics, we have finished integers and started learning geometry. The Grade 8s are doing integers also in mathematics. Mrs. Graham came in to show them how to draw flowers. In physical education, both • classes are working on two -pitch skills. • — Cherie Wormington EXTRA -CURRICULAR Things have been getting, busier and busier at Turnberry Central School lately as there have been - tests and assignments to complete. On June 1, the 1988-39 Kin- dergarten children took part in the • bus safety- pvogram. biatitie- 1; the school had track and field day, which everyone enjoyed. The Grades 4-5 and 5-6 classes recently took in an exciting trip to the Metro Toronto Zoo and the Grade 2s and 3s visited Goderich. Everyone has had a tkonderful time on all their trips and there are more trips yet for them to enjoy. Many students have begun to count the days left in the school year. Summer holidays are not very far away! — Ang Musgrove SPORTS Two -pitch hou-0 league as started at Turnbe and everyone is enjoying it. At recess, some Grade 7s and 8s play field hockey. Students from Grade 1 to 8 participated in different events trying to obtain their personal bests as well as winning ribbons. The weather co-operated fully and everyone had a great time/ - Carla Mowbray DOCTOR DIES • In April of 1980, the front page of The Advance -Times related the sad news that Dr. R. Dennis Wilkins had passed away suddenly. He had come to Wingham in 1967 and, except for a brief time in 1976 when he went to Newfoundland, had practised here since. A surgeon and general practitioner, he was missed by many patients and friends. 0.•
