A quote this week comes from the
federal government booklet, Don't
Take It Easy: "Canada's population
is growing older year by year.
Persons 65 and over now form a
bigger proportion of the total
population than ever before. As Mao
Ts -Tung once said, The journey of
1,000 miles begins with little steps' .' '
Resist the temptation to take it easy
and remember the human body was
not designed for the spec, tator role. ."

NO HOUSING IN PARK
Wingham Town Council bowed to
public pressure and, in May of 1980,
decided there would be no senior
citizens' housing built in
Cruickshank Park. Council formally
rescinded its bylaws rezoning a
section of the park for the subsidized
hou.-sing prOject and accepted an
offer by the protesters to help find a
suitable alternative site for the
apartments. Opponents of the
project made their position clear:
whether or not an alternative could
be found, they did not want the
apartments built in the park. ,
