Alvin Leonard Lediet of Copeland
Lodge, passed away suddenly at
Wingham. and District Hospital on
Tuesday, June 7. He was 72 years of
age and death followed a brief
illness.
Born Nov. 21, 1915, in Wingham,
stay in University Hospital. Special Service June 9
thanks to Rev. Rea Grant and Mrs.
Grant for their visits and Dr. for Keith Ridley
Bourne, Dr. Sharpe and staff for

our 40th wedding anniversary. A

Funeral service was held Thurs
day at one o'clock for Keith (Gibson)
Ridley of Stoney Point. Interment
followed in St. Simon Jude Church
Cemetery. Pallbearers were John
Bolander, Don Bolander, Paul
Poltorak, Don Jacques, Ken Strong
and Dale Ladouceur. Melady's
Funeral Home, Belle River, was
entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Ridley died June 7 in his 61st
year. He was the belovedbusband of
Geraldine of Stoney Point; dear
father of Terry Bateman, London,
Julie Walker, St. Thomas, John
James, London; dear step -father of
Mrs. Donald (Debbie) Jacques of
Emeryville, Mrs. Ken (Laurie)
Strong, Mrs. Dale (Jacqueline)
Ladouceur, Michael and wife
Crystal, Richard and Karen
Morand, all of Belle River; dear
brother of Mrs. Cecil (Maxine) Lynn.
of Orillia and Mrs. Bill (Phyllis)
Haverfield, Fordwich and Gordon of
London. There are 15 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents,
Adora and Earl Ridley.
DEATszs
HOPWOOD—Zina Louise Hopwood
(July 23, 1903 - June 1, 1988). Zina,
our much -beloved aunt, passed
away peacefully in her 85th year.
Zina was a compassionate, wise and
caring individual to both family and
friends. A former resident of
Wingham, she was Director of
Nursing at Wingham and District
Hospital for many years and later
was owner -operator of the Bide -a -
Wee snack shop on Josephine Street.
She is survived by nieces, Mrs. Jean
Thwaites and Mrs. Margaret Gib-
bins and nephews, Stuart Menzies
and Donald Menzies. A memorial
service was held at the Boal Chapel,
North Vancouver, B.C., on Monday,
June 6, at 3:30 pm. Donations to
Lionsgate Hospital Medical Re-
search , will be gratefully ack-
nowledged as expressions of sym-
thy.
Mr. Lediet was a son of the late
Darcy Lediet and Charlotte Smith.
He attended Wingham Public School
and was employed my McLean's
Mill and—Falconer's Logging
Company. A veteran of World War
II, he served . with the Kent
Regiment of Chatham.
Mr. Lediet is survived by . two
sisters, Mrs. Bill (Hazel) Dankert of
RR 2, Guelph and Mrs, Ken (Eva)
Simmons, RR 4, Wingham and two
brothers, George of Florida and Bill,
Wingham. Also surviving are
several nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his brothers, Pos-
ton (World War II), Norman (1980)
and Gordon (1984).
Mr. Lediet rested at The4Ait-
Burney Funeral Home, Wingl;
until Friday at 1:30 when servile
was conducted by Rev. Douglas G'.
Madge of St. Paul's. Anglican Church
where deceased had been a mem-
ber. He was carried to his final
resting place in Wingham Cemetery
by six nephews, Al Bott, Preston
Lediet, Ron Jones, Wilson Daw,
Norman Lediet and Paul Dankert.
His floral tributes were carried by a
great-niece, Lisa Daw and two
great-nephews, Jason Daw and
Shawn Daw.
R.R.C. Godfrey
Ralph } edvers Cecil Godfrey of
Fordwich died at Listowel Memorial
Hospital on June 1. He was 88.
Mr. Godfrey was born in Olden
Township, County of Frontenac, to
parents John and Abeneth (San-
derson) Godfrey. He farmed in West
Wawanosh Township for 20 years .
In 1924, he married Ila Campsal in
Mt. Grove, Ontario.
Mr. Godfrey is survived by daugh-
ter Olive (Mrs. Clifford Sproul) of
Ethel, Gail Livingston of Goderich
and daughter-in-law Marlene God-
frey of Dungannon.
He is also survived by 17 grand-
children and 24 great-grandchildren.
Predeceasing Mr. Godfrey besides
his wife were sons Howard and John
Wilfred, four sisters and three
brothers.
Funeral service for the deceased
was held at McCallum and Palle
Funeral Hine, 11 Cambria Rd.
North, Goderichh,..on June 4. Rev.
Robert Roberts of Dungannon
United Church officiated.
Flower bearers were great-grand-
children Rob, Justin, Jeffery and
Jeremy Sproul.
