is in headline
A headline in last week's edition of
this newspaper read "Memorial
donation honors Dick Carson", In
fact, the donation honored Norm
Carson, who died just over one year
ago. Dick Carson is very much alive.
We apologize for any confusion
this may have caused.

BAN IS LIFTED
The Spanish flu epidemic of late
1918 caused a great deal of concern
around Wingham and claimeclsome
lives., On Nov. 7, Dr. Stewart,
Medical Officer of Health, advised
.the public that the churches would
re -open the following Sunday and
schools -and colleges on the Monday,
after beingvlosed for several weeks.
The ban had been lifted and the
townspeople appreciated the steps
taken by Dr. Stewart in having all
public places closed so the epidemic
would not be allowed to spread more
than could be helped. The sickness
was about over in Wingham and
most who had had the disease had
ahnost recovered.
