Whitechurch — The Woinen's In-
stitute held its 60th anniversary
celebration in the Community
Memorial Hall on Wednesday, June
8, at noon, with a hot meal catered
and served by the Donnybrook
United Church _Women to 75 pests.
After the Meal, the meeting open-
ed with the Ode, Mary Stewart Cal-.
lect and Lord's Prayer. President
Mrs. Helen 'Currie welcomed
everyone and introduced head table
guests. Mrs. Agnes Farrier read
reports of the organizational meet-
ing and the Afrst regular meeting
held m the Foresters' Hall on Feb.
28, 1928. Mrs. Russell McGuire
conducted an In Memoriam honor-
ing those who have passed away
since the organization began.
An enjoyable instrumental on the
electric keyboard was given by
Doris Bradley. Mrs. Norma Rintoul
gave a resume of the 60 years of

The cake -cutting ceremony was
held and pictures were taken, with
Merle Wilson, charter member,
Gertie Durnin, first-year member
and president, Mrs. Currie. Greet-
ings were expressed from the
District branches and Mrs. Gladys
Arnold of Ripley spoke a few words
about years gone by in the Institute.
Mrs. Currie gave the courtesies
and "God Save The Queen" was
sung. Anniversary- cake and ice
cream were served, bringing an
enjoyable afternoon to a close.
Guests with Mildred McClenaghan
last week were Rev. William Hen-
derson of Lucknow, Bruce and Doris
Coloman of Vancouver and Mr. and
Mrs. Carl McClenaghan. They spent
the evening reminiscing.
Richard Day of Waterloo spent the
weekend with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Day.
Mrs. Don Ross, Mrs. Walter El -
Karen Elliott, Mrs. Neil Rin-
• toul and 10 -children attended the
WMS children's rally at Kintail
Presbyterian Camp on Wednesday,
June 8, from 5 to 9 o'clock, enjoying
games, a campfire, nature hikes and
supper. A worship service concluded
a chilly evening at the lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Angus Falconer
visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs.
Kevin Falconer and Jackie of
Exeter.
Attending the Bluevale UCW fam-
ily night on Sunday evening were
Rev. and Mrs. John Neilson, Mr. and
Mrs. Dave Gibb, Mrs. Gertie Dur-
nin, Mildred McClenaghan, John
McKinnon and Mrs. Agnes Farrier,
Miss Raynard of the Wingham
Group Home was the speaker.
Mildred McClenaghan and John
McKinnon took Mr. and Mrs. Bruce
Coloman to see the Bruce Nuclear
Power Development at Douglas
Point. Mr. Coloman was at the site
15 years ago with nine other men
from B.C., investigating the possi-
bility of building one in Nanaimo.
That project never developed.

Everyone was pleased to see Mrs.
Valetta Emerson able to attend the
60th anniversary dinner of the
Whitechurch Women's Institute on
Wednesday. Mrs. Emerson was a
faithful worker, in the WI for many
years and many people benefitted
from her knowledge. She was
always ready to help anyone who re-
quested assistance.
Mr, and.• Mrs. Clarence McClen-
aghan of Kincardine were taken to
Owen Sound hospital •on Wednesday
by Mildred McClenaghan and John
McKinnon. Clarence underwent eye
surgery.

THE NATURE NUTS
Whitechurch — The members dis-
cussed plans for Achievement Night
on June 21 at Purple Grove. They
also planned a hike in Jim Ross'
buslfby 'the direr and discussed
snack i for hiking. Steven Rintoul
read the minutes.
On June 7 they enjoyed their
outing in the bush. Cathy Dow had a
scavenger hunt and the group
played games. They had supper of
hot dogs, smores and marshmallows
on the fire. The memberi brought
goup, which is a combination of 1
raisins, chipits, dried fruits, marsh-
mallows, nuts and bolts, etc. Dessert
was butterscotch brownies.

Former area resident
marks 60 years as nun
• Sister Genevieve Roth of Port
AVM, Mick, and formerly of the
Winghant area, recently marked her
dialudild jubilee —60 years — as an
Adrian Dominican nun.
Born at duelph, Sister Roth came
kt this -aria early in her Fife. The
,fainilfanned in the Winghatn area
tOr a number of years and young
ereuevieve and her nine siblings
21 attended Holmes' School in Turn -
betty Township.
She eritived the convent in 1928
told 44years taught School before
retiring in the 1970s. Since then she
has devoted her life to helping other
seniors, including organizing a meal
program in the.1970s and now doing
clothing alterations at the home
where she lives.
Among those in attendance at a
celebration to mark Sister Roth's
diatnond jubilee were her sisters;
Henrietta and Theresa, both nuns as
well,

diamond jubilee five years o,
while Sister Theresa celebrated her
Golden Jubilee in 1..15.
